"Reflections" Leobert

Hallo,

“Reflection in you” is an erotic rock song, written in the ’80’s. With no more than a plastic washing-up bowl, two water buckets, some drumsticks and a broken hi-hat gotten from my friend Ton, an old guitar and an Akai tape recorder. It took over 8 sound-on-sound takes to record the song. As a result there were no dynamics left. I had just left the band RDL McAllen. Despite that, the singer Jan came all the way over to help me out by singing the song.

Now, about 40 years later I managed to remake the song all by myself. Only a computer, a keyboard, microphone and a guitar were needed and of course with Cakewalk. Still there is some dynamic left. However, with an, in those days usual tempo change included, the remake is a nearly copy of the original. Just sounds better.

The lyrics tell about love. Not in a romantic ‘I love you so’ angle, but about the deed ‘it’ self. So there are no clarifying pictures here. But I sincerely hope I can leave that to your own imagination.

Cakewalk crashes again and again when I try to open it, because of a failure with opening AmpliTubeXGEAR.... so I cann't give you a list of the tracks. Trying to repair...

Enjoy,

Isn't technology great?  Quite a number of huge steps forward in 40 years.

First thing I noticed was the vocals are buried in the mix. Maybe it's just my ears, but I could not understand a single word. With mutlitrack, you have the ability to place the vox right in the sweet spot where they can be easily heard.

I know that others, like myself, would like to know more about the process you used.... tracks used, what synths if any, guitars, bass drums, live or synth....  etc.  It helps us to understand the music we're hearing a bit better and to comment with some accuracy.

Oh yeah... Welcome to the forums
