Don't forget that Select None (ctrl + shift + a) accomplishes exactly the same thing
Interesting...in most cases, yes you would think that would work, but not in context outlined in initial post.
Just to give context as to why I ran into this:
Client wanted to hear short clips of just her bridge vocal so she could audition them, clips sent via email.
In this case, meant running 12 distinct clips of just the bridge.
With a view containing only those 12 vocal takes, my process was:
Un-mute desired vocal track, "Select All" tracks by double clicking any track in my view, then selecting a time range ( the bridge in this case) > export.
Error was:
Select All only selects
all the tracks currently in your view, not all tracks. ( I think this is a mistake in coding and should be fixed...Select All should be exactly that, no matter what your current view is...)
Gustabo's suggestion works by using the CTR-A command. That does indeed select all even in a limited track view, and the setting is not upset by then selecting a time-range. That's the kicker.
So anyone else running into this, that's the optimal key command to get it done fast and correctly.
Disclaimer: Maybe possible I'm the only oddball running multiple mixes of time-range selected lengths, so it isn't an issue to most. I work with a lot of clients long distance, and sometimes they want to hear 10 versions of a vocal in a small area, via email. Odd, but it happens a lot :)
Thanks for all the input..greatly appreciated.
