Nice, mellow piece. Not something I normally get into but it was cool, and calm.

Daryl, the vid is a clip 14 seconds long, looped, with a dissolve transition between the loops. I am the proud owner / operator of Adobe premiere elements 13, which was quite the hobby-level rage 5 years ago. I'd happily help you along if your excellent tunes decide they want to live on as videos. Soundclouds are transitory - but i think youtube might actually be forever. ? I thought a low, unprovacative visual might help the listener bring their own thoughts to the party, if they wanted to. Other splashier vids I have made kind of relegate the audio to the back burner, and I don't like that so much. Bill, with guitar chops for days, now knows how I feel when I listen to his works! Thanks . . . Bapu, thanks for the kindness, much obliged. But as you know, bass players get the chicks, at least the ones the drummer leaves. Voda, thanks for getting mellow with it ! Cheers, -Tom

The first three chords are from a famous Faure Piece. Your variation was nice. What piano do you use?

Very pretty, and I like the choice of visualization. Perfectly realized. Agree with Bjorn about your observation of YouTube v Soundcloud. Been meaning to make that transition and you've added to the motivation.

Hi Tom, Cool breathing piece of music... Nice motions through harmonic changes. Is it a real piano? To my ears,it sounds like a vst in terms of dynamic. Thanks for sharing. All the best . Olivier.

Bjorn, many thanks. I like Soundcloud but y'know. Bill Cookie Jarvis! thanks. I like your stuff, too. And, cookies, generally. Wookie - Dude! SupaReels - make mine a double. Many thanks!!! Dougk1824 - very glad you enjoyed it. Big Russ! - you are back! Glad you dug it. Can't wait to hear some of your stuff. I was lucky enough to play piano for years in some cool settings, particularly in a nice restaurant overlooking the water. At sun set. For years!!! So the "sweet slow fade" as day moves through twilight into night is at this point indelibly etched. CWestmont - yeah, just have some easy on the eyes stuff moving around. Visual processing detracts from musical enjoyment. Except for that Whitesnake video. :) Vilo Oliver - the VST is Impact Soundwork's Pearl. I did a whole CD with that, and though it has its high points (the bell-like Yamaha c7 treble clarity) it also offers up some mud that I struggled with. They have since updated it - I wondered if they cleaned up some of the samples. I think it's fantastic to play, it's more responsive than other piano VST's. And sits great in a mix. I'm not sure it's the best for solo work. I appreciate the careful listen, and yes the dynamics are absolutely jarring in their discrepancies. My pedal work is particularly noticeably awful in spots! But I left all the mistakes in there, rather than edit it to death, to keep the "live" feel. Markus - many thanks, sometimes its just good to chill out. Glad you liked it.

I really like how lyrical your piano playing is. It really sings. I did not pay too much attention to the video as I was concentrating on the melody.

I love this. Tom. The articulation & pianistic dynamics are deft. The sound of your piano is soft, warm, and musical. I am working on a few solo piano numbers and this recording gives me a standard I doubt I can match. Good stuff bud! Cheers, Bert

this is beautiful, Tom! absolutely beautiful playing and great sounding piano! If I may crit a tad: at 1:06 there's a noise in the held notes - probably a heavy pedal noise in the VST? (but it's not consistently even) and then it cuts off abruptly at 1:09, but the notes are still held, so it's easily heard that it's gone. 2:21 to 2:24 is pretty heavy on those pedal noises as well. 4:02 to 4:08 also I hear pedal noises throughout the piece and that's OK - it gives it realism. the parts above just sounded a little distracting to me. if you're OK with it - no problem, just thought I'd mention it.

Starise - thanks much! Sometimes I get lucky with things. There are so many variables in doing the DAW thing that luck is almost required! Vichung Vicente - cool, I think the melody came through pretty decent on this, many thanks! Bert, thanks! The "sound of the piano" is Impact Soundworks "The Pearl" kontakt instrument, which has its strengths and weaknesses, but mostly strengths I think. Glad you appreciated the piece, I was definitely going for some emotions to match a sunset over the water. Freddie J - thanks! Markus Clinus- thanks, very nice of you to say! Beagle - great ears and I hear all that low-register crap buildup and disappear, just like you do. There is no way to remove it that I can find, and I have really tried. It's inherent in the VST. Now, interestingly, there is supposed to be a PEarl 2.0 coming out, if it's not out already. Perhaps they addressed the weird low rumble grunge buildups. Markno999, so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks! I haven't heard of Randy Goodrum so I'll check him out, thanks for the tip . . .
