Hey Jack,
Thanks for your ideas...
I do have a ride cymbal in the chorus...the chord pattern in the verse is different, and its in double time, so I was hoping it was different enough... ha ha...

i hear it now that you mention it, but the percussion is too far back in the mix to really pick it out (well for me), not that it's a bad thing. don't get me wrong though, this song is awesome. the more i listen to it the more i think, "just leave it be." =)

As far as the end, I'm afraid I wanted it to be abrupt...I killed all the reverb and delays 1 measure before so nothing would ring through so it does die naturally...I just cut off any extra noise...
the drums are from Groove Agent...I like that kick too!

Thanks,
RLD

yeah actually i noticed the first time that the last measure seemed different but didn't know what it was. makes sense now. listening on my headphones it sounds fine, actually. on my speakers it seemed a touch too abrupt, like the vocal was actually cut off 20ms before it was finished.

yeah i need a new set of drums. the free soundfont ones i use just don't have what it takes, or maybe i just suck at mixing them, but trying to get punch and clarity and bass response at the same time... well once i add vocals it kinda goes out the window. curse the sm58 and its proximity effect...

anyway this is a song that could seriously climb the rock charts, and is actually interesting to boot... =)

Hey Roger,

Yes i did have a time off it sync'ing the two rythmn guitar parts, quite i bit of chopp'in and paste'in, the lead was easy peasy infact i used a sample in the intro.
I will be posting a new link here real soon and will mail you soon to discuss my intentions for the song.

Thanks again.
Dave.

This rocks! I had to listen to it twice just to make sure...

The wall of guitars blend well, the bass and drums are punchy, but the vocals still sit well on top. Nice. Cool song, strong lyrics, great hook (vocal and music). This tune's about ready for prime time.

I don't know much about about ear fatigue, but I know that this is one of the most professional sounding mixes I have heard in my short time listening here, and I look forward to hearing more of your stuff. It's heavier than what I typically listen too, but I may listen to more of this stuff. I do agree, however that the solo is a little hot, but very well performed.

Hi, RLD!

Wow, this is my first exposure to any of your stuff, but I have to say that this is one of the best tracks (maybe the best?) I've heard here in the Songs forum. The composition, mix, and performance(s) are all strong. Not much to criticize here!

Very, very well done.

Roger:

Simply outstanding! I always look forward to hearing your music. My only nit is that I think the drums could be a little more exciting. But, everything is tight, well-written, well-played. Not really much to say. I give it a solid "A". I'd give it an "A+" if the drums were re-done. Roger, this is really great stuff. Really!

This is an excellent song with very little if anything needed. You have excellent producing skills that I sure wish I had even a tenth of.
Nice work all the way around.
I dont know your age group but if your in your mid to upper thirties or more then I am amazed as to how well you captured the "New Rock" sound.
I have tried but fallen substantially short of the mark. You hit the bullseye dead on.
Thanks for posting this tune. It would seem we have a new benchmark eh?
Regards,
Mark

PS my cousin who comes here to check out the songs forum turned me on to this tune. Its not the first time I had completely missed some noteworthy music and/or productions. I need to get more involved in more members music. I would really hate to have missed this one. going to get more of yours to listen check out.

Great song man! I'd be very proud of myself if I made this song.

I thought the sections of the song could have used a bit more contrast - maybe 2 riffs instead of just one. But overall the song really does rock.

Listened to Turn and Walk Away. Liked it. Great tune.
Love the snare drum sound, what did you use for that?
Great lead guitar work & nice lead guitar sound. Catchy
tune overall. Great production, great musicianship.
The vocals have a nice punch to them too.

I give it a 10.

Rock on!
