"World of Insanity" music video and song - done with SONAR

Well it took a little time to get used to the newer version of SONAR, so it seemed smart to start with a less complex song and learn the new interface with a simple, straightforward "chugga-chugga" & "widdly-widdly" uptemp hard rock song.

We knew we wanted a video to go along with it.

Enjoy the chaos and rough "live" sound

a few of you have asked about the royalty free media used in the video .
I took some of the photos, and used 2-3 different media companies ... but MOST of the videos and photos came from CanStock Photo

Thanks - it was the first stuff I recorded after recovering from torn tendons in my hand from an accident doing yard work ... not back 100% yet
3 months wearing plastic splints on my hand.

Lesson to all guitar players ... Be careful when doing things like heavy duty sports, yard work,  car repair, home improvements ...   it's too easy to mess up your hands if not careful.

Nice job.  Sounds excellent.  Great guitar performances - reminds me a lot of malmsteen.  Lyrics and video are very relevant.

Kick-ass track! It really gets that sense of anxiety & desperation...

Were the drums triggered/sequenced? I guess that's the one thing that sticks out for me -- the drums seem too precise against the chaos of the rest of the track.

But overall a cool sound. Glad you got X1 working for you :)

I hear playing guitar can bugger up ur hands too

While the song technically.. I thought was good, I have enough stress surrounding me, that I honestly don't need anything else reminding how crap everything is.

Good job tho, best of luck with it all.

Well, back to the I like more bass in the mix, I suppose. Sounds fine though, although not my cup of tea in music.

(the only reason that it sounds fast, is because we have gotten older, and if you think your hands don't work now, well, keep practicin', because more will probably be needed when you get older, especially if you have not done it for a few years and get back into music.)

Sounds really good. I think the vocal seems ill-timed at parts, like the cadence is just slightly off...very minor. But otherwise I liked it.

All of your observations above were accurate and correct
    Good ears

This was a "transition" recording where I was moving some tracks originally recorded on Analog and making other switches over to new gear .......

    DRUMS-
Yes they probably are too precise by today's tech standards
They were programmed on an old Yamaha RY-30 drum machine (yikes !!)
I made lots of variations in patterns and even inserted some small +/- tempo changes to try and make them sound more human (something like 85 different 1 measure patterns in that song)
But still, no way to get the more realistic sound and variation now available with BFD (and other drumming software).
I am now using BFD for future projects

    VOCALS
Yes, we experienced some time shift problems we were wrestling with.
Original tracks were recorded on Analog Tape
    Transferred to Sonar at 24/96
Guide Track for singer emailed to him across Country as a 16/44 WAV Export
He imported this WAV guide track into Pro Tools.
He did vocals in ProTools HD singing along to guide track
Emailed back 24/96 vocals WAV which we imported into Sonar project

For some reason we kept running into some time shifts between the two systems
We fixed them the best we could  but you have a good ear to hear where the singer is off a bit in a few spots as a result.

But have still not tracked down where that time stretching is happening between the files and projects being shared between SONAR and PRO-TOOLS

    Any ideas ?
I would like to solve that problem for future use.

    Thanks

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..............................and here I thought the song got off a little bit from the drums in a couple of places, or it was not quite all together then it got back all together.
Not sure how to fix it though, as I use a metronome with a certain tempo, but never switched between different programs and different computers. Don't know which one would be more accurate then, but to me if both are using the same tempo (metronome clicks) then to me it all would be in sync. After that if it was not, I suppose I be pulling my hair out trying to fix it and I think it would be a laborious chore to sub-divide down where exactly the parts go off and minutely try and fix it.

Of course, perhaps you could just convince people that the song is that way, because it is a "World of Insanity", well, I digress.

Hey I like that explanation .......

"Yes, in order to add a sense of tension, anxiety and distress we worked in some off-time parts of the songs to keep the listener off balance"

Hmmmm ...  sounds good even if it is a lie
