"Zoom"

thinking of re-working this one.....
maybe just a new drum track-
this drum track was done with a zoom123 drum machine....

ideas? i'm stuck between the idea of using a standard kit, versus something more industrial, i used both in this demo....

It seems like it would work great with some monstrous sounding drums.

    Nice playing!

    best,

I agree with the poster above (mike mccue). Guitars sound great but the drums are weak. Unique song.

i can see what your dilemma here is BB. this has the feel of modern Satriani, and he has succesfully used more electronic sounding drums...but personally i think a modern rock/metal kit would work fine here. great off-the-wall song btw, some awesome sustain effects.

Agree with above, this is well crafted but I want to hear a more simple and in your face metal drum kit here.

Hi Batsbrew, I love the guitar playing, all of it. Why not lose the drums all together and add some more guitars ?

    mike
    thanks for listening.
    'monstrous drums'
    lol
    everybody wants monstrous drums...
but when you make em monstrous, you stand the risk of diminishing everything else.
    always my fence-riding.
this is a demo, so the drums are purposefully mixed a little low for this example.
but i have cranked the drums up on this mix, and didnt' care for it, so i need to do a new drum track...
    thanks for the feedback.

    thanks for checking it out.
is it the drum MIX that's weak.... or the actual drum parts?
would you go with a jazzier fusiony vibe, or a very stiff straight up rock part.
    or something inbetween?

    mgh
    yes, dilemmas r us.
    HEH
modern rock kit, yes, i have some great metal samples i could use as well..

the 'sustain' on these guitar parts, come from playing in a small room with my boogie rig maxed out..
it was so fkin loud, i can't explain how loud it was... but i did lose some of the popcorn insulation off the ceiling of the room!

    whack
    simple, metal, check!

a guitar player always wants more guitar!!
    LOL

i just finished a song with no drums in it, so i DO go there sometimes,, but no, for this song, it needs something propelling it.
neanderthal, and jazzy at the same time, is what i hear..
maybe just a bit of spice on an otherwise straight groove...
