"add nodes at selection" doesn't work on bus automation

I find that "add nodes at selection" doesn't work on bus automation if the selection is made on a track.  It works if the selection is made on the time-line, but this is not always the preferred way to select a given section.
 
The "aim assist" line does not operate when the cursor is in the bus area.
 
Together, these issues make it unnecessarily difficult to edit envelopes in busses in a way which synchronizes to audio data.
