recording audio with vst plug in

Hello group,

I just purchased truepianos and have successfully instralled the vst plugins.   I can record to a midi track with the out put set to truepianos just fine.

Should I also be able to play my keyboard and record directly to an audio track with this plug in?  I can probably do it with the "what you hear" type setting in my recording controls but I want to do it a more direct way.

With VST instruments do you usually record to a midi track and then creat the audio track from there?  I think there is a bounce to tracks feature that will do this but I'm not sure how.

Thanks.

Windows 7, Sonar 8 studio with all updates.

Play your keyboard and record the Midi output of your keyboard. That Midi data can be output to the soft synth.

    (1) Recording output is possible to do in some recording software (Reaper, (IIRC) Ableton Live, VSTHost, ...). Just wondering if this isn't possible to do in Sonar by routing. Recording through W-U-H port can be done (if HW supports this) but, it is not recommended (just try it to find out why it isn't).

    (2) I suppose there's something written in the Sonar User's Guide regarding bounce feature.
