recording workflow

Hi
 
Firstly I have read through different posts about the following query but hoping someone can let me know the score. 

Is this incorrect when recording as this is what I do
 
1 Record each track normally audio via UA101
2 adjust the levels for each track/add fx if needed
3 when I am happy how the mix is I select all tracks and choose ‘bounce to tracks’
4 I then ‘solo’ that track and master it, to be honest I normally just use Vintage Channel’s ‘Master Mix’ preset.
 
Sorry to ask this but I am forever hearing people referring to ‘busses’ and pre this and post that so am I doing this completely wrong?
 
one last thing, my computer/windows 7 is 64 bit and so is Sonar 8.5.3 on my browser when recording it shows 16 bit / 48.1 is this normal and if I went into the ASIO settings to increase the 'bit' would that 'cripple' my computer?
 
Any help would be appreciated.

    It's recommended to record in 24 bits. It's more important than raising the sample rate from 44,1 to 48 kHz.

    There's nothing wrong with your workflow, though there are other ways. If it sounds good it sounds good.

    Using buses or not depends very much on how big our projects are. Buses are a very important tool
    in cwell organised tracking and mixing.

    There are lots of 'right' ways to do it. Yours is one of them.
    I use buses for groups of instruments so I can adjust the level of all the same types with one control in the overall mix. All guitars to one, vocals to another, drums. etc., but you don't have to use buses.
    Win 7 64-bit is the operating system; that has nothing to do with audio's sampling rate and bit depth.

    Or you could export your mix out to a WAV file and then import it back into new Cakewalk project. As your projects get more involved you may find it refreshing to just have that single stereo track to mess with (at least I did... speaking as a hobbyist).
