rehearsal recordings for the musically challenged - MP3 possible?

As we are not that talented or that good at reading music, my mother & I use Cakewalk to enter our church choir sheet music.

We can use it to listen to our parts separately, add parts one at a time, and then add the accompianment.

Is anyone aware if this would be a marketable service?

We only see the option to burn wav files to CD.

We are confused about the ability to create MP3 files for the new portable players.  It doesn't seem to be an option.  The notations on the web site about MP3 files are confusing.  Having to continually burn CD's is inconveniet.  The erasable reuse of the MP3 would be more practical if this is a simple add on.

Our organist is also at least temporaily unavailable if anyone knows of a keyboardist in the Stroudsburg, PA area.

    Welcome to the forum.
Why mp3s? If you both have Music Creator, why not just email the MIDI files?
Which programs are you both using?
If you have an older program which doesn't have the mp3 export option, you may have an mp3 encoder already on your computer, or there are many free and for-cost mp3 encoders available.

Music Creator 2003, MC Pro 24, SONAR Home Studio 6 XL, SONAR  X3e, CbB, Focusrite Saffire, not enough space.

    Welcome...

You kinda shotgunned a whole bunch of stuff and it's kinda vague..... which makes it hard to answer specifically.

Anything is marketable from the right angle...... for example   Pet Rocks.

MC exports WAVE files..... but you can use a free file converter/audio editor to convert them to MP3.
MC comes with a 30 day trial included for MP3 conversion inside the program....then it shuts off unless you buy the license. So most of us use an external MP3 converter.

You can also email MIDI files as Greg pointed out.

I do the same thing with my choral music .. so I can learn my part. I have made parts CD for all parts for folks in the choir.

Another helpful thing I do for our community choir is to make an audio track from the practice recordings we have and add the midi piano parts tracks to that. This can be quite a challenge since the recordings are never perfectly timed so I have to insert a lot of tempo changes so the practice notes align with the recording.

I have been doing it note by note with my mouse but I just got a keyboard and am interested to see if I can speed up the process .. I'm not very good with the piano either but I'm hoping the quantize process will help me out! Also hoping it will help improve my sight-reading and playing skills.

I do it on a volunteer basis but I was once offered payment for doing it. I don't think it would be legal for me to charge for it but I'm no expert on copyright laws.

I found a great many midi file sites on the internet. I found the entire score for Handel's Messiah which really helps me learn and practice for our annual performance! Look first, somebody may have done your music already!
