remove double or more midi hitts

Depending on the circumstances the MIDI Deglitch fuction/process can fix such things. It will search for notes that are a) under a predefined length or b) under a predefined velocity.

So if your notes fall under those categories (like the double triggers are really short or really low velocity) then it would work. If they are the same length/velocity as a normal note in the file then unfortunately it won't. I just deal with those manually.

Cheers.

Cool. I get double hits from my padKontrol expression pedal which is fixed velocity and the hits are generally the same length as a regular hit.

However... how does it define a duplicate hit? Hits that occur at EXACTLY the same time? Because mine never do. Secondly... which hit would it remove or is that something that can be defined?

I have not yet explored how Calscripts work. This would be a good excuse.

Hopefully not a threadjack... but it seems to be on topic.

Cheers.

The script prompt for a time window. When the same note appears in the window, it removes the duplicate. At least that is how it is supposed to work.

Cool. I will be trying that out. Seems like it may solve some of the specific limitations that Deglitch presents for my specific issues... and now hopefully OP has a couple useable options.

Thanks.

Another way, although this is a bit long winded (but 100% accurate) is to open up your midi track in Staff View.

Any duplicate notes will appear twice on either side of the "stalk" - you can then select one of the duplicates and hit the delete key.

Note: sometimes when doing this Sonar will delete BOTH notes, BUT if you hit control + Z (undo) it miraculously puts just ONE note back on the stave, which is exactly where you want to be.

Hmmm... So would opening staff view, selecting all notes, deleting them (all), and hitting CTRL-Z work the same way?

Good thinking, Robin! That would be brilliant! I've never had doubling problems, but for the others sake I wish it would work the way you ponder. That would be a superior method compared to any DAW, I'm sure.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

I used to use this method, but it's not always easy to identify the double notes.

A quick test here told me it doesn't work like that.

Oh well, one can always hope (and get squashed like a bug). The Undupe.CAL takes a time window in (in ticks) and looks like it simply deletes repetitions (i.e. all duplicates) of a note which fall in that range window - so is the best method readily available.

@Beeps - [FYI - CAL resources to anyone interested] CAL files are text files, so I associated them with notepad so they can be opened/edited freely. Resources are a bit scant now, but there are a few sites that still provide the CAL Programming Guide (CW has moved this file internally, it seems). http://members.ziggo.nl/odw/en/indexmidi.html?/odw/en/CAL%20course.html is the best source that I found recently when building my own.
