Unfortunatelly, you cannot remove the reverb from a recording.  If you try a compressor, it will actually accentuate the room.  If the reverb is mainly on the low end, you might be able to minimize the effect as you put a hi-pass filter on the track.

There are a couple of software for eliminating reverbs, but don' expect too much. I've never tried any, though.
    Google for "de-verb" or similar.

Actually the transient plugin that came with Sonar will help a great deal.

A compressor doesn't remove echo's and reverb from a track. A compressor will actually make it more pronounced. Do not use a compressor, its the wrong tool for this.

The only way to remove the reverb and echo is to re-record it. This is nothing you can fix without screwing it up and making it sound mangled and spliced.

Zynaptiq's Unveil does an amazing job of removing reverb.  I used it to remove room reverb from a video and it really works well!

You can also try playing around with RMix.  It's great for isolating and muting specific frequencies.
