removing the space when deleting a section of a midi file

Time for some techie questions.

I work with midi files a lot but I've never figured out how to delete the hole left when you delete a chunk in the middle of a file. It annoys me that the portion to right of the cut doesn't slide to the left, thus fillind the whole.

I can't remember seeing a trade on this but god it's annoying.

Yes I am aware of the cut special, delete whole check box but I just can't find the trick to do it.

Any idea?

Mario

p.S. music is a hobby for me so yes I'm sticking with splat, as well as windows 7.

I've not done this for so long, I hadn't noticed that the split tool has been "hidden" in Sonar Platinum.

    Here's what to do:
    • Press F8 until the Edit tool icon (top left) turns into a pair of scissors.
    • Click on either side of the region you want to delete (you may or may not want snap-to-grid enabled, depending on how quantised your MIDI data is). You should now have 3 clips.
    • Click back on the select tool on the top left.
    • Click on your blank clip in the middle
    • Press the delete key.
    Mark.
