replacement for DR-008
A long time ago, Sonar came with FXPansion DR-008. FXPansion no longer sells or supports it. What is the closest thing to DR-008 that can serve as a replacement (presumably for W7, either 32-bit or 64-bit)? thanks Keith

I'd say Battery, too. Native Instruments claim it's 64bit compatible, although there have been some posts that users were having problems running some NI instruments in SONAR 8.5 without issues. Search around the forums here and you're likely to run into some of those posts. Yet, I'd say NI Batery is the closest drum sampler that's sort of like the DR-008. If you don't know, Session Drummer 3 is a 64bit compatibe new drum instrument with SONAR 8.5. I don't know if that may suit your needs, but I think it's worth mentioning.

DR008 was my main and loved drum module for a long time. It is still so usable too (I think the last version was 1.21). However, there is now: BATTERY 3 - excellent replacement, very full featured. MOTU'S BPM - another great one I would add NI's Maschine - but it's pricey and hardware as well as software. I would NOT say Session Drummer 2 or 3, however. My main reason is that you CAN'T AUDITION samples in place! I think that's naiive and amateur for a modern drum plugin. And it's one reason I just don't waste my time with it. IOW, you *have* to load the sample before you can audition it. Ugh. However, SD3 is a better plugin than SD2 was, so it's moving in the right direction at least. There are other strong replacements out there, but I think the few mentioned are worthy ones.

Granted that it would be nice to have that in Session Drummer--Loop Explorer is really pretty convenient. Regards, lightninrick

So I you don't get the machine gun effect when looking through drums with auto play on. This would make drozone more useful aswell for drums.

Battery is a pretty choice plug, but I think LinPlug's RMV would be a more a suitable replacement for DR-008. Just my opinion

Loop Explorer lets you audition just about any sample. But this is not so helpful with SD, because it uses sfz files, which Media Browser cannot handle. You can audition the raw samples (machine gun style) but that isn't necessarily how the sfz will sound when loaded.

I've been requesting a loop on/off feature since the explorer first came out. Ryan said it was on his short to do list but i don't see it on the new update list.
