[rock] ...Then The Wheel Fell Off
Once upon a time, a musician got a phone call. *rrrrring*"Umm, Dad... not sure how to say this, but here's the good news. I've got all the lug nuts! By the way, can you please come and help me retrieve my wheel and bumper from the road I was driving on? Love you!"True story. This is a collaboration with my friend Paul Frick, during our Wednesday night music sessions. The style is a bit heavier than much of my recent work. Please let me know what you think! As always, criticism and honesty are welcome. https://soundcloud.com/arcanor/then-the-wheel-fell-off Thanks for listening!

Hi Walt, fun tune, I like the slowdown at the end ; ) Maybe a lead over the top would be nice. Rik

Oh yeah, love this from the get-go! That's a great intro, really draws you in. The breakdown with the choir pad and the muted drums works really well, that was inspired. Great stuff Walt.

@Rikkie: Thanks Rik! Perhaps you're right about a lead. I will discuss it with Paul. Yeah, the ending is a bit of a detour, for sure. :) @jamesg1213: Thank you James. Just a few parlor tricks on the breakdown, but it seemed fun. :) @synkrotron: Thanks Andy. Yep, we're trying to be more varied in our productions. Some new elements on the palette this time out. ;) @Wookiee: And we thank you for listening John. Something a bit different this time around. @ohgrant: Glad you enjoyed it Grant. About the story... it happened to my friend/collaborator Paul, a few months ago. All turned out well, thankfully. @munmun: Thank you Sunny. Glad you enjoyed!

Agree with Rikkie that an overall lead is needed to turn this into something really special. Great choice of instruments, and I love the bling sprinkled throughout. That bass is perfect for this. Great job Walt! Regards, Dan

You are very talented and versatile, Walt. I like the way that this builds up and the different textures throughout. A solo would enhance this, but it stands on its own anyway. Encore!

Yep. Nice all around. Although it might have originated from that story, the tune itself I think leaves the story behind and jams out quite a lot! The ending works a treat, nice parlor you've got there! I thought the choral breakdown in the middle very effectively whetted the ear's appetite for more of the jammin' groove, so kudos for that as well. Your mixes always have that polished sound and are inspiring to me! cheers, -Tom

Very nicely done Walt and Paul. You did leave room for what ever direction you want to go with this or even as a background standing alone on it own merit. Very well put together and enjoyable to listen to. Great mix!! Peace and Blessings, John

Super cool groove! This percussive cowbell like noise is so catchy. Now put some melodic hook line on top of it. Really good mood stuff. The mix sound spot on! Cheers, Daniel

Love the arps throughout, and the phasey synths moving around. The choir breakdown is a nice change too and very different. I guess the ending is what happened after the wheel actually fell off, huh.

You know, it's really well done but it seems to be a bit repetitive, not to the point of stopping it. I wonder if some BGV tastefully inserted in a few spots along with some lead instrument in spots. Believe it or not, I'm hearing a rock fiddle in my head. That's a place you don't want to be, Walt, in my head! I like this tune. You guys do it well. Who did what on this?

I want vocals! Great mix. You might have a HP filter that is set to high. I can't get the very low end on my system. I would reduce the HP a bit and let this thing kick. Without a lead vocal, could use a solo instrument. Beautiful work.
