roland groove synth

I am relatively new to Sonar and have never worked with a soft sybth.
I am missing something because I cant figure out how to interface the groove synth with Sonar, it seems to me it should be the same as when using an external synth.
(1) select sounds in the Synth.
(2) set the midi channel for each sound
(3) assign the audio out port(s)
(4) send midi data to each sound

NO SUCH LUCK
What am I missing, the manual to me is more confusing than useful
Anybody care to send a SEE-DICK-RUN instruction on how to set up and play a three track (Piano,Bass,Drums ) midi file from SONAR to the GROOVE SYNTH ,or point me towards one.???????
I would GREATLY appreciate ANY help.
Thanks
Tom

Check your manual...there should be some basic tutorials describing exactly what you want to do.

    Thanks for the quick reply.
If there are such turorials I havent been able to find them, either in the quick start or online help ,both of which I downloaded and had printed by KINKOS, the online manual is just under 200 double sided pages.
The problem is they appear to be pointed more towards those who used prior releases and/or have had some experience with other virtual synths and dont cover the actual complete novice very well.
I was in Guitar Center a couple of weeks ago and one of the employees was working with PROJECT 5 V2,and told me HE was having difficulty with V2 where he had very little problem with V1.
Oh well ,I'm sure eventually I will get some reults.
    Thanks again

Hey T.Speer. I'm also having problems opening Roland Groove synth. PSYN workspretty well but I don't know what happens to this synth. Seems that there's not such an interface to work with this synth in Sonar. Let me know if you can figure this out.

If you Google Roland GrooveSynth you will find this article fromCW support. It doesn't solve the problem, of course, but I suppose it offers a partial explanation.

    Hi Guys,
Do a search for this on this forum.
I remember downloading a patch/program that enabled Sonar to interface Groove Synth.
Here is the link to the page:

    http://www.cakewalk.com/support/kb/kb2004214.asp

It now works on my system.
I don't use it as it is rather poor vs TTS1 but good for 80's style music.

CbB, Splat, HP Pavillion i5, Win 10 64bit, 6G ram, Scarlett 8i6, Kontakt 5 plus a shed load of hardware, synths & guitars collected over 50 years.

    Hello Thomas,

Go to Insert | Audio Track. In the audio track, right-click in the FX
field. Choose DXI and pick the Groovesynth from the list. Now set the
Output and Channel of each of your MIDI tracks to the DXI.

There are some good tutorials here for using DXI's:
