rotating outdoor stage
I was at the state fair of texas yesterday to see Kansas, but they had several bands on several different stages. one of the stages the Kildaires were playing from like 2pm until 7pm with 20 min breaks each hour. what was interesting to me was that the entire stage was rotating. their amps and everything was on the rotating stage. they did have some external mains facing the "audience" area. my question is: how in the world did they do that??? how do they power the equipment on the stage? I supposed you could come up with a type of power cord which allows for a rotating stage where the connector is two metal circular plates which touch as it rotates. I'm just guessing that's how they might do it, tho, I don't know. does anyone else know? also, how did they transmit the signal to the mains which were stationary outside the rotating stage? unless it's a wireless transmitter and receiver I can't figure that part out.

It's like bumper cars without the cars.....unless they were there too.

yes, of course! I was thinking more localized, but the bumper car analogy makes more sense.

The power can easily be transferred by a sliding contact, and the signals sent by radio link. Much like the power for the lights on the rides at the fair. I saw George Strait on a continually rotating stage at an indoor show in a big venue.... it gets them closer to the audience rather than being at one end of the coliseum and the audience at the other end can't see them except for the big TV screens.

Forget this rotating stage business. The important question is, did you have a Fletcher's Corny Dog?

Beagle pdlstl Forget this rotating stage business. The important question is, did you have a Fletcher's Corny Dog? nope. but I did have fried brownies and fried cheesecake! They should have wrapped them in bacon then fried them and it would have been worth it. Saturday night..... on the topic of food.....I went to a bluegrass (kind of) event and they fed us. The meat was pork, slow cooked for hours..... so we're headed in the right direction right off the bat..... then a bit further back on the table was the piece de resistance...... (or however that phrase is spelt)..... some sort of green pepper sliced in half... a bit on the mild side with just a hint of the fire within..... filled with a cheese mixture and wrapped with..... are you setting down?....... BECAN! Mannnnnnnnn.... you talk about sumthin gud...... oh my..... my night was made at that point..... but to describe it in more detail would be a TOS violation so you have to take my wurd for it. But that Becan thing was gud...show nuff....

Actually, there was one place that had "chicken fried becan" ('cept they misspelled "becan" ). but I didn't see it until we were leaving the park and I was not going to be able to eat any more last night. and I'm sure it would not have been good "reheated" so I didn't get any.

Some people have built rotating houses. Imagine how much more complicated that is, what with the electrics, plumbing etc.

I've thought about fantasy house designs where parts turn. My solution was to have the stairs and plumbing in the center that doesn't turn, with the top room spinning around it via electro-magnets.

Turning the house is not a problem.....I'm kinda hung up on the floating part. Got the plumbing issues solved-kinda- just started thinking about after the post above.. Easy but the house has to stop turning at specific location(s) to use facilities. Probably a good safety feature while showering anyway.

HGTV has a show on the channel on occasion called Extreme Homes...and yeah, they do have houses that turn.... not completely in a circle but such that it tracks the sun on a daily basis and returns to the starting point during the night. All electrical, plumbing, and other utilities are on flexible connections and hoses to make it all happen. And what is wrong with a house looking like the Jupiter 2? That was one cool ship.

Well, with my approach, the facilities are in the middle area that doesn't turn so no issue there. As for why, I can think of several reasons with the biggest two being able to turn away from the sun during summer and towards the sun during winter.
