Damn you god, why couldnt you have gave me better vocal chords instead of my beauitiful head of hair

If you come at it trying to measure yourself against some particular genre or singer, it can be frustrating. Best to just to use your voice the way it wants to be used, even if that means you can't sound like your heros. Any voice can sound good if it's used right, with Bob Dylan being the canonical example. I do though think you can seriously improve your voice if you want, though I do believe the above that you can't measure success by how much you sound like Ozzy or some other metal maven. And of course processing is your friend, too.
RE: Are You Gone (CJaysMusic)

Hey PBLOXAM, Im always up for collabs, expecially if you can sing. If you noticed, this is the 2nd one i did in all my songs that i posted. I think alot of solos are unnessary and are just put into a song to satisfy the ego of the guitarist. Im not one to put a guitar solo in, just for the sake of having a guitar solo. It has to fit the mood and the song. Its like in the movie's, of having a nude sex sceen just to show boobs, and it doent need to be there and is unnessesary. For the record, Im not against seeing boobs, just for the sake of seeing them, im all for it.

Durod, I love hearing that from other musicians. Everything is perfect to my ears and this is one GOOD song. All the parts are great and done very professionally, and the vocals are outstanding. Man you have a really unique voice......pefect for the kind of music you do; it goes together like peanut butter and jelly. Niiiiice lead on the guitar too........wish we could have heard just a little more of it. Oops, I guess I did throw in a little tip!!! Great work and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Duane
http://www.soundclick.com/duanerod

RE: Are You Gone (Ognis)

EQ hell!!! Other than that, sounds like a good song. I usally don't like guitar solos but the way you made this a bg solo fit well. Cool song, but I'd remix it, and do something with the mids to highs. Like I say, cool song though. BTW, I just woke up, and this was the first thing I've heard so far, so maybe my ears are more sensitive than they would be later on.

RE: Are You Gone (opaque slogan)

Fantastic track and performances. It may be just a personal preference but this is awfully intense to me (I guess I have to admit it then, I listen to a lot of soft rock and jazz). So did I mention this is intense sounding.

Given the huge guitar sounds, and huge sounds overall it all comes thru real clear. And the performances are spot on also.

ORIGINAL: CJaysMusic

Thats probably my way of compensating for my lack of vocals. As far as your mix and bountiful amount of little frills here and there you did a good job.

However songwise you've created a dronning repeating pattern with no way to cleanse the aural palate. The lick itself is a sort of hypnotic trance like mood which I guess can work to some extent. And you did stray off with interesting surprises like the Bell and what not. Which is a good to keep attention going.

But honestly, even though there where a few moments the vocals fit the mood. You really should consider scouting out for a singer.
With the exception of the Toll Bells I didn't hear a whole lot of Sabbath or Rush. But what I did hear was something closer to Alice cooper times ten. <img src="http://forum.cakewalk.com/upfiles/smiley/s1.gif" alt="" data-smiley="" />

I need to wrapp up my wrists now. <img src="http://forum.cakewalk.com/upfiles/smiley/s2.gif" alt="" data-smiley="" />

RE: Are You Gone (CJaysMusic)

ORIGINAL: Beagle

Hey, CJ. great sounding tune. very dark and forboding! love the guitars on this.
