I am using Sonar X1 and love it so far. I use multiple monitors for video and 3d work and would love to see Cakewalk add support and functionality for multiple monitors. Maybe some default layouts that would automatically utilize and take advantage of the 2nd, 3rd and/or 4th monitor. It would be nice to just click a button and select between 4 or 5 different monitor layouts.

Then again, maybe they already have something like this. Does anyone know?

Thanks
Re:Sonar 8 Wish List (papa2005)

You can widen the track pane by dragging it to the right...As for using abbreviations, engineers have be doing so for a long time because there was no way to widen a channel strip on a console...

Re:Sonar 8 Wish List (montezuma)

I wish when you typed the name for a track into one of the tracks e.g 'Acoustic Guitar'...that you could choose a font size...that way I could make it really small so most of the name fits in and I don't have to use abbreviations.

Re: RE: Sonar 8 Wish List (arvmetal)

I wish Enhance the navigation, like nodal video compositors (Fusion, nuke, toxik shake) or 3d software (houdini, maya, softimage), the work should be faster if we can conect nodes and navigate with the mouse bottons and a hotkey, and if the graphic interfase uses the GPU (graphic card) power.
RE: Sonar 8 Wish List (Montanna1053)

How about a browser for Pattern Brush with a way to audition patterns from the browser.

I have hundreds of Pattern brush patterns, I would like to organize them in folders such as Alternative, Blues, Soft Rock etc...and inside of the folders would be Styles listed by tempto for example.

At this time I have to scroll through hundreds of individual patterns select one, then if I want to use a variation of the same pattern, I have to scroll through hundreds of patterns to get back to where I was.

A browser with a search engine and a way to audition them with a GM Drum kit and Midi player would be great.

How about also using the pattern brush for other patterns such as Bass guitar, keyboards, guitar, etc... using the same folder options, browser and search engine within the Pattern Brush Folder. I know it can be done now to brush in a bass pattern but we need a more effecient way to browse, search and audition them.

With a embedded Midi Player and the ability to select an instrument such as Bass, Drum, or Keyboard. Initially it could just be a 1 channel Midi player with the ability to change basic midi instruments to audition with their respective midi file.

Pattern Brush is a tremendous tool with a lot of potential, but at this time it is too limited to a scrolling method of selection and takes too much time to go back and forth. Lets have a floating window or tabbed window that stays open for quicker access.

RE: Sonar 8 Wish List (Rothchild)

Proper full screen mode like Ardour (or Firefox for that matter - hint if you're on Firefox hit F11).

Cheers
Child

RE: Sonar 8 Wish List (Legion)

I wish for a gain reduction meter in TL64! Since I don't work for Cakewalk I don't have the time to read 17 pages of posts.

Do to having uninstalled and reinstalled Sonar 8 I discovered that the uninstall utility is incomplete.

My Wish: The uninstall utility should remove every aspect of Sonar 8 installation. This includes every directory, VSTi, registry entries, etc. It should give you the option to retain certain aspects of these same items in the event you are using them with another products such as Sonar 7 for example.

The uninstall utility currently is primitive at best.

Actually, this feature should exist for every Cakewalk product.

Humbly,
Lance

RE: Sonar 8 Wish List (razor)

ORIGINAL: fresh101

ORIGINAL: razor

Wow, the replies are so long this may be covered, but we asked that the CPU meter stop flashing... and that wasn't covered in 8.02.

You can turn off the status bar in the globle options if that's what you mean.

Thanks, but no. (daverehnstrom)

For Sonar 9 (or an update on 8) I'd like to see:

Ability to change how beats are divided up on the grid in the piano roll as well as a metronome that is configurable for triple time, i.e beat 1 and 4 accented in 6/8 and those same beats different from the other grid lines in the piano roll. I do a lot of sequencing that needs to be exported to notation software and it would be very helpful to have this visual aid in the piano roll corresponding to the musical feeling. Also, I sometimes get sent midi sequences for notation in the wrong time signatures (i.e 4/4 even though the actual time is 12/8), and I need to be able to change the time signature without Sonar changing the tempo and also be able to let Sonar stretch the time map with the midi so that tempo changes fall at the right places musically after changing time signature.

A separate tempo scale command would be great, too. Fit to Time just doesn't always cut it.

Can we have that please? It isn't too much to ask now is it:-)

Dave

RE: Sonar 8 Wish List (fresh101)

Thought I'd add my 2 cents

1. Zoom in/out and snap to zero for Dropzone

4. 2 more elements in Dropzone for easy drum kit creation (kick, snare, open hat, closed hat) or creating layered velocity sensitive instruments.

5. A way to change NRPN value range. From 0-16,383 to 0-127

6. Add velocity sensitivity to Cyclone and hi/lo filters per pad

7. Drum machine mode for Beatscape (mpc style vsti)

9. a draw/add transient tool to loop construction view

10. (Malevol3nt)

You know I really believe this topic should be called Sonar 9 Wish list. People add feature requests for the version that is coming, but usually the developer allready has plans on what new features or bugfixes it will bring in the comming version. So maybe it's best to start making requests for the version after. That way you give some time for the developer to look into it, and if it's a promising feature, put it in their development plans. Right now it's quite possibly too late to add any features from user requests to Sonar 8 (unless really small features).

RE: Sonar 8 Wish List - NOTATION!
