If I just create a plain old audio track in a blank template, and hit the input monitoring button, it sets this by default--

The default has to be set to something, right??? I don't really get what your asking or doing or wondering. Just set the track how you like it and record. so what if you have to set the tracks input or interleave button. Its part of recording.

I guess you could arm two mono tracks and specify the same input source for both of them. But I can't think of any reason to justify going to that much trouble. If you want a clone of a mono track, just record it and then clone it. What specifically are you trying to do, Adam?

or if you want to keep your hard disk usage low, record one track mono and then clone it. That way you still only use one data wav file.

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but creating project templates and blank audio track templates is quite simple to do. If you want a mono signal (I'm assuming your vocal) sent to multiple mono "tracks" simply insert the number of desired mono audio tracks into your project all set to record the same input...

Nevermind, new question.

I found that if you set the input to L, instead of Stereo, it records mono, and sends the signal to one mono channel. I'd prefer the signal be sent to multiple though, anyone know a work around? Also, now, how do I make it do this by default, without using templates? I got a new mic (brand unknown, it's like, super old, but usable. Has no labels or anything on it) and I'm trying to figure out a way to record mono by default, but with both L and R channels filled with the mono recording I just did. Read the manual, and didn't find anything on that specific topic. The interleave is a little visually annoying for me, and for some reason, the MONO switch on my TASCAM US-144 either doesn't work in SONAR, or I'm doing something wrong. Another thing I should add is that I do too many playbacks, and analyzable of my vocals (which result in having to edit them/re-record) to convert to mono, bounce the track, and reimport it.

Can someone help me please?
