Welcome to the forum.
Yes, you can cut out mistakes and re-record in that space.
You can use the split tool (looks like a little pair of scissors) to cut the clip just before the error and just after the error. You may have to adjust the snap-to resolution so you can split somewhere inside a measure. Turn the split tool off, then right-click on the offending part and select 'Edit>Delete'.
Then you set up Punch-in Recording so that the recording starts at the point just before the now-empty space and stops recording when you reach the end of the space.
If you would, please, start a seperate post with your questions by clicking "New Post" at the top.
This thread is old.
RE: Editing an audio track (myoderwhite)

I have just started using Music Creator 5 today and am VERY ignorant about its capabilities. If you have time to help me with my problem, I would be most grateful. I am making an audio recording. How do I get rid of sections where I make mistakes and re-record an accurate version? Right now, I'm just starting over at the beginning and hoping for the best, but I know there is a way to cut out errors and re-record accurately. On a side note, gain can have unexpected results if you have effects such as compressors in the FX bin. This is because gain adjusts the level on the input side of processing. Volume adjusts the output.
Anyhow, back to the point.
Put the effect you want to use in the FX bin of a bus. Insert a send in your subject audio track.
A pre-fader send will send the audio to the bus before it passes through the FX bin, and will be completely independent from your track output.
A post-fader send will send the audio to the bus after it has passed through the FX bin, and will be subject to the track output level.
Supose we want to apply an exagerated reverb to a short section, maybe a measure.
If the track has effects in the FX bin that are crucial to the sound, like an amp sim, bounce the track first, and use the bounced track as your source track.
Now, insert a send, and select PRE. Turn the send on.
Right click the track, and insert a send envelope. At the point we want to exagerate the reverb, raise the send envelope. You can also insert a volume envelope, and drop the volume in the source track at the same time for more drama.
It looks much more complicated than it really is, and you can use this to do spot effects, or even morph a sound into something completely different.

RE: Editing an audio track (Beagle)

hmm. ok - thanks for reporting that. I would have to copy the clip to a separate track, as you suggested in option #2. Trying the Process FX in your last option, added the FX to the entire track, and not the selected portion.
Greg: Using your suggestion, Process/Apply Effects, brings up a pop-up that says that it is about to add whatever FX is in the track, to the selected clip. It makes no sense to me to DO that function, since that's already what's in place before we try to select the portion of the track to begin with. So - so far tests seem to indicate that MC4 cannot apply FX of a track, to a selected Clip - we have to paste the Clip into a separate track, there that FX can then act on that entire NEW track. Please let me know if any of you find out otherwise. I consider it a major feature in terms of editing/processing, and perhaps this is one area that CW splits between MC4 and the higher-end Sonar products. oh well - I love MC4 regardless! <img src="http://forum.cakewalk.com/upfiles/smiley/s1.gif" alt="" data-smiley="" />

RE: Editing an audio track (Beagle)

actually, the track DOESN'T have to have an FX in it. just using PROCESS>FX>AUDIO FX>ETC...(or similar, I don't remember the exact menu options) will process the effect on that highlighted clip.

RE: Editing an audio track (57Gregy)

I've never tried it with a clip, but on entire tracks. It appears that an FX hits the entire track regardless of how you select only a portion? But there are some other effects that you CAN apply to only a selected section?
