Scroll down and look for the
presence of the Windows Hotfix Q819111. If this hotfix is installed you can use the
smaller (~500KB) installer. Otherwise, use the full (10MB) installer.
If you are installing this driver version onto a PC that does not have a previous (V 1.00)
FW-1884 driver installation, the full 10MB installer must be used. This installation is
identical to that described in this doc, the Owner’s Manual and the Setup Guide.
If you are installing this driver version onto a PC that has V 1.00 drivers already installed,
please use the approximately 500k updater.
If you are installing V 1.10 drivers for the first time from the CD included with your FW-1884
then your devices already have the latest firmware that goes with V 1.10.
If you are installing over V 1.00 drivers then you will also need to run the Firmware
Updater. The Firmware updater must be installed after installing the V 1.10 drivers. The
Firmware updater app is a separate download file from the V 1.10 driver file you
downloaded from the TASCAM web site and includes instructions to guide you through
this very simple process. This updates the FW-1884 from ARM135 / FPGA 45 to ARM
145 / FPGA 49. These version numbers can be seen in the FW-1884 control panel.
"
And then do the fw1884_sonar_installer_1_10.exe
You should be good to go minus the learning curve...

Hot digity you got me over 50 I'm "Bronze" now!

RE: Sonar 2.2 & Tascam FW-1884 sync problems? (rgfors)

I installed them last night. There are four downloads that are applicable. One is the full install, the next is the update, the next is a firmware update and finally one for Sonar.

According to the documentation and what I did, you run the update first. Once completed, you run the firmware update. After that, you run the Sonar update. There is no need to run the full install... BTW, it works like a charm! No more latency issues.

I tried to send the zipped pictures of the Brubaker to you just a minute ago, and got a failure notice. (didger)

So the pre-delay problem was the same using a different timing master, but I think I've fixed it by playing with buffers.
I did have another loss of contact with the FW-1884, but closed and opened Sonar without turning on and off the 1884, and that seemed to work fine to re-establish.

RE: Sonar 2.2 & Tascam FW-1884 sync problems? (didger)

I've still got some mucking around to do it seems.
2 problems:
1) The FW-1884 has lost contact with Sonar when I've changed any MIDI configuration stuff, so I have to close Sonar, turn off the 1884, and turn back on 1884, restart Sonar.
2) Now when I go back to the metronome recording test that started this thread, sure enough, the metronome lines up the same every time. No more drift! BUT... it's EARLY. So the first downbeat is sort of cutoff. I assume I can just set an offset or play with buffers for this though.

But so far, yes, a vast improvement. Just some quirks to work out, I think. I'll try it with my Behringer ADA8000 as the timing master and see if it makes a difference.

RE: Sonar 2.2 & Tascam FW-1884 sync problems?
