So to route battery cells to various tracks youve created...click on the cell you want to route....open the cell tab at bottom left..... select desired output from the switch under the output level slider ( far right bottom) the default is 'master' for all the cells which is why all samples play on the first track until you start tweaking.I now have a lovely track template of this setup. Thanks also to fog(?) who supplied the mapping for the battery kits that sonar didn't. Hope this helps others too...or is this a quirky thing to want to do?

RE: track templates (edentowers)

You need to find out how Battery redirects each of its sample outputs to your chosen audio track.

In the Session Drummer synth window look just below the icons for each drum. There's a little white box. If you click on it and move the mouse upwards it shifts between the 8 available audio output tracks that you created.

There must be a similar 'feature' in Battery.

Phil

RE: track templates (clivemasters)

Thanks for these responses, MIke and Eden sorry if I wasn't quite clear. I loaded battery from insert soft synths ,ticked the boxes got the separate tracks and the controlling midi track as you both described So far so good!I load a kit into battery..... midi controller triggers all the sounds but they all come out on one track. I check the inputs for each track and they certainly are all different. With session drummer template loaded cymbals are all on the same track , toms on another, snares on another...which is what Im trying to achieve.
As an experiment I loaded session drummer by the other route ie inserts soft synths, tick the boxes in the same way i did for battery. All the tracks loaded , looked good but behaved in the same way as Battery had..ie not what I want.Looked identical as far as I could to the session drummer that works.Next thing I tried was using the session drummer track template to load it, and then substituted every instance of session drummer with battery3.Still no joy!Thought drum mapping might be the problem....session drummer one looks about the same as the battery one though.
If i could manually map all the same types of drum instrument to the same place I will have achieved my holy grail.
I hoped some clever person might have posted the cwx file somewhere on the net for battery 3 track template but if they have I haven't found it yet...Anything stupid I'm missing here? thanks for the help chaps
RE: track templates (edentowers)

Do make sure you select MIDI Source, Synth Track Folder, All Synth Audio Outputs: Stereo, and Synth Property Page from the Insert Soft Synth Options pop-up.

This gives you a separate audio track output for each drum sample and 1 controlling MIDI track. But is this what you want? Your post can also be interpreted to suggest that you have been recording a different MIDI data track for each sample and routing it to a single audio track that contains all samples. Can you clarify this?

RE: track templates (mudgel)

Insert Battery from the Insert Menu ie Insert Softsynth select Battery 3. On the dialog that opens select All outputs and SONAR will open a folder with the necessary MIDI track and associated audio tracks with everything routed to as many outputs as Battery provides.

Get that far and experiment a little more with that. I don't use Battery but Superior Drummer 2. It must be similar.

track templates (clivemasters)

New to all this ....my first post.....dont even know if I'm in the right place! Was wondering if anyone can help me with my midi drum routing? What I am trying to do is get Battery 3 to behave exactly like the session drummer track template with kicks, snares, cymbals etc routed to their own channel. I really thought it would be simple...but here I am days later.Took me a while to realise that each track in the session drummer template is an audio track.....Thought I'd cracked it then..but no. So even using that basic template and sneakily substituting battery stuff in it....cant get the drum instruments to group together in their own channel. It was a revelation that you could even do this.....I always put each drum instrument on its own track and recorded separately....lots of work for nothing...just love the samples in pop kit otherwise I wouldn't bother
thanks in advance...not sure if that is the protocol
