SONAR LE does not have full synchronization capabilities, nor does it have MMC capability. Your best bet is to use the Cakewalk Generic Control Surface option. First, select the MIDI port that you are using for the mixer under Options | MIDI Devices on both input and output. Then, choose Options | Control Surfaces and click the Add button. Next, choose Cakewalk Generic Surface and select the proper MIDI input and output. Finally, choose Cakewalk Generic Surface under the Tools menu and setup the parameters for the mixer. Press F1 for help routing specific functions.

Okay - I've made some progress on this, which I'll post for posterity...

I went into options -> control surfaces, and created a new control surface using the MMC option. Everything seems to work famously now except the mute and solo functions. Though I have not yet played with the faders and panpots.

So I'm much better off than I was, but still no quite there. If anyone has any wisdom I'd sure appreciate a hand. Thanks again!

Hello all. I'm new to Sonar, and am trying to get my old Tascam TM-D1000 set up as the control surface. In Sonars user documentation I've read that it cannot be set as the MMC slave. Is there a way to use Sonars Generic Control Surface application to make this work?

For those not familiar with the TM-D1000 (<--pic) it is a 16 channel, 4 bus digital mixer originally manufactured in 1999, and includes full control surface functions including: transport functions, mute/solo faders and pan pots per channel, 16 locate points, and basic automation via "snapshots" (no motorized faders). It has always worked well (via MMC) with my hard disc recorder (Fostex DMT-8vl), drum machine (Alesis SR-16), and previous software (by Turtle Beach). I've been through the section of Sonars user manual concerning generic control surface setup. I started off with the transport controls though, and the manual doesn't seem to cover that very well (aside from a short blurb about Rew & FFwd functions). While both Sonar and my MIDI interface indicate that they are receiving data from the mixer I've had no luck getting a response.

If it makes any difference my software version is 4.0.1, and it came with an EMU 1212m sound card which I purchased new about a year ago. Thanks in advance for any advice!
