As was mentioned, before, the best way to loop is to make a measure or two, then copy the clip, and paste as many as you need. I will usually line up the clip on a new track, and split the end of the original and the begining of the new. sometimes I have to make a copy of the new one, to split the end of it. Then when you paste multiple copies, it'll stay even....
Works 4 me!

Figured out the loop.

Create a new track then go into my piano roll (alt+f5) it doesn't have to be the piano roll its just what I use. Create a short clip or whatever I want. Close out of that back to the track screen. Right click on the clip I just created and then go to clip properties. Under audio stretching tab there is an enable looping button, Viola!. There may be another way to do it but that is how I figured it out.

Now I need to get a midi controller I believe that will make my life even easier unless I can figure out how to assign key bindings quicker.

but you might have to search around for something of particular interest to you. And some of the videos are for other Cakewalk products and mention features, instruments or effects which Music Creator doesn't have.

Welcome. It's good to see you've already made significant progress. There are a lot of people here who were out of music for years and got back into it with MC, like me.
As far as 'looping', I think the MC looping isn't what you want. It plays a continuous loop that rewinds on itself, for if you want to practice a riff or vocal part over and over. There is also loop recording, which plays the same part of the song while you record other parts on different tracks.
To make what is commonly called a loop in a lot of studios, you have to record a part and copy it out as far as you want. Check your help file for "Groove Clip Looping". I don't know if MC has that, but you can certainly copy any clip song-length if you want.
I don't know why what you did doesn't play, though. Was it a MIDI drum clip? Did it play but you didn't hear anything? Or did it not even move when you clicked play? If MIDI, you need to make sure the output is set to your MIDI device or soft synth.
What's your operating system?
A better audio interface is almost required, especially if you use a lot of software synthesizers, which you will since you don't have a MIDI keyboard.
MIDI controllers are relatively cheap. 'Boards from M-Audio can be had for ~$100 new. The Oxygen8 is $75 and the Oxygen 49 is $95 at Guitar Center. Or look on Ebay or your local craigslist for used keyboards with MIDI in/out.

As the subject says I'm new to Music Creator 5. Heck I'm new to any type of mixing, producing software. Anywho looking to get back into music (went to college for it about 10 years ago since I played guitar) Sad to say ended up in Information Technology. Although not all bad its not really what I would like to be doing. I'm Now older and looking to make a career change. I thought would start simple and work my way up into music production, mixing, design and so forth.

So far MC5 hasn't been too bad but I do need a whole mess more help. I've gone through the tutorials and for the most part figured out how to add tracks, use the piano roll and also the staff roll, play, record, use the midi files and instrument tracks etc. Really don't want to use any of the pre-built stuff, I would like to create all of it on my own (unless I find something particularly interesting).

So my BIG question is, are there any online resources that provide actual video tutorials. I find the standard tutorials vague and don't seem to explain what I'm trying to do. I Keep trying to figure out how to create a simple loop of just a drum beat but when I try to apply the loop flags (with the loop button enabled) nothing plays back. do I have to save the file to an audio/midi file first then through the loop explorer grab it? Can't seem to find any step by step instructions in the help. Although it seems to spell it right out on what to do I'm clearly missing something.

Heck if someone is so bored I'd be willing to spend a few hours and have them remote to my machine and give me a full blown introduction. Anyway point me in the right direction oh GURUs of MC5.
