Probably the next Home Studio release will be, but as people have said, the direction Cakewalk toook with the Home Studio product was more geared toward beginners (which I think was a mistake). They should make the Home Studio product look and feel like the Sonar Studio and Producer products with a few less pro-level features to keep the cost low. That way people can easily upgrade to the next higher level product in the line without having to relearn how to use the product.

Sonar 8.5 Studio and Producer are both Windows 7 certified and 64 bit compatible. I'm running Sonar 8.5 producer in Windows 7 64 bit and it seems to be working well EXCEPT my M-Audio MIDISport interfaces are dead because the chumps at M-Audio didn't bother to write 64 bit drivers for them. I'm giving them a few more weeks and then I'll be moving probably to the MOTU product.
Re:Anybody Using SHS7XL (RobertB)

I have to echo what Mamabear wrote.
Understand that SHS7 is not an upgrade from SHS6. It is a change of direction, geared for more simplified interaction.
If you are comfortable with the SHS6 format, definitely consider saving up for Sonar 8 (or 8.5 at this time)

Re:Anybody Using SHS7XL (Mamabear)

From what I've heard, if you're used to SHS6XL, you may be disappointed in 7XL. You might enjoy 8 Studio better. Sorry--I'm still on Vista though, so I can't help you with Windows 7.
Anybody Using SHS7XL (dmanuscriptmusic)

I just upgraded my music PC to Compaq Presario which runs on Windows 7 64bit. The downside was I still have SHS6XL and was having some issues with compatibility so of course I realize I need to upgrade. I want to buy SHS7XL, but only if people have on Windows 7 systems and it isn't giving them any problems. Is anybody using the newest version of Sonar Home Studio on Windows 7 and if so how is working?
