(larrymcg)

You need to send the midi from PA9 to the soundcard where the soundfont is loaded. You do not load the soundfont into PA9.

The soundfont just provides another way for the soundcard to generate sounds when it receives midi info.

Since you are talking about drums sounds, I think it all needs to happen on midi channel 10.

So, in PA9, on a track with midi data (like a midi drum track), set the Port to select the soundcard, set the Channel to 10, and select an instrument. The instrument number selects a drum kit like Standard, or Jazz, or Orchestra, or whatever the soundfont supports.

--Larry
How to Use Soundfonts with Pro Audio 9? (RSacky)

Hey folks,

I am new to using Soundfonts and have not been successful in my efforts to load a soundfont of drums into a track to use as an instrument in Pro Audio 9. I have a Creative Labs X-fi Extreme Audio (PCI) card and can load the soundfont into the Soundfont Bank Manager with no problem and listen to the samples but I can't figure out how to load it as a MIDI track in Pro Audio 9. I seem to have sucessfully loaded it into memory using the pull-down menu option "Soundfonts..." but after that I'm completely lost. Do I need to assign it to a specific Channel (such as 10 for drums)? I've tried all the Help files and on-line help I can find with no luck. Any suggestions?

Thanks!
