I just bought an Akai LPD8 as I needed a cheap drum pad. I have it set up so the first 4 pads produce notes F2 G2 A3 B3. Basically audible notes in the middle of the range. It's connected via USB and the AKAI editor can send / receive changes to the LPD8.

The LPD8 reproduces those notes when you tap the pads - at least it seems OK if I monitor the input using MIDI OX - the input monitor says the notes coming in correspond to what I press.

If I try to record MIDI from the LPD8 in Sonar I get nothing. I've checked the obvious stuff like track set to the correct device & channel, track is armed. I know I've got the basic technique off ok because if I record from a MIDI controller keyboard via an external MIDI interface then I record notes just fine.

Any ideas or other users successful with this device ?
