I know this is not what any of you want to hear, but I copied my whole DimPro multisamples directory over to my Wuzikstation soundset directory and is happily using the Dimpro samples.

Thanks - I'm at 44.1 but will try the 48 option and test results 2morro as long as I'm snowed in - I checked control panel sound and nothin's loomin besides my Echo Layla Soundcard. I'll keep you posted.....

I don't think task manager sees clocking issues! So you may want to go to control panel/sound manager and make sure nothing is looming there!

Hmm, have you tried running in different sample rates? It would be interesting to see if the shift occurs at the same proportion for each change in rate. I am largely running at 48, what are you running at?

Hey beachy,

This intonation problem happens even when Sonar is the only app running according to my task manager - I have an Echo Layla 3G for the record.

Does anybody else still get the out of tune patches w/out other apps running?

Thanks for the heads up on the problem being thru out the plug patches...

My pitch shifting occurred with all patches in Dimension. I finally figured out that the sample rate was bouncing between Windows 7 and my RME/Presonus Digmax clocks. When I close all applications outside Sonar and supporting DSP from RME. Dimension works. If I have just one competing driver for the sample rate it bumps down to 44k and down goes my pitch. I have had luck with this and like allot of others heard no response from Cakewalk support.

Several Dim Pro samples are obviously out of tune (many of the basses, but others as well). This has been reported many times.

It makes me ticked that Cake techs play dumb when you ask if they've heard any previous complaints.

Same here, but in their defense, I'm sure they're told to say that. I called the other day and was told they'd had a "small number of complaints" about the registration site and eStore. "A small number"?" /> Folks have been complaining about it for years and years!

Look at it this way, if they dump it, hopefully the replacement will be glitch free and therefore a little better.

As far as the vocal replacement, I found a few free mellotron imitation plugins that work fine...... if you learn how to tweek their available range, attack, delay, sustain & reverb parameters. I also found some cool mini moog plugins as well during the searches.

This issue with Dimension Pro just keeps going and going. I agree that the problem obviously exists. What I do not understand is why Cakewalk does not address it. I know several people have sent emails to tech support about it and none have reported ever getting any responce. Can't some one at Cakewalk at least throw us a crumb, and say they are working on it? Even Toyota eventually acted. I hope it is not a situation where Cakewalk plans on dumping Dimenison in the future, so they do not wish to spend any time fixing the tuning problems.

There have been many complaints about Dim Pro having pitch problems (mostly about bass patches)...Perhaps in the "soon to be released" update to 8.5.3 the "bakers" will address this...

I don't know if you tried this or not! It help me with the same issue. Go into control panel and disable all other windows drivers for on-board or out sound cards. Leave your echo drivers alone. Reboot the computer. I was able to do this several times in a row and dimension is now stable. Good luck!

I also tested this on my older Sonar7 Pro machine and the 1st the male vocal was OK, unlike the 1st review on my new set up. The female aah chorus I doulbed and then transposed an octave sounded flat - I mean not just a little but enuf to be obnoxiously rugged to stand. In other words it was unusable. So it's probably that Dim pro just sucks when it comes to vocal pitch intonation. It's does still have a lot of other usable features.

I can't explain why the pitch has changed and the way it did on my new computer either. That's why I'm posting this thread. To find out why. I called Cake support and Seth says he was unaware of this problem in Dimension Pro. I'll be calling them too just in case I have any settings wrong on both computers.

I'm also having a problem working with video editing in 8.5.2. I'm getting a error message when I reopen the video project (.mov to be exact) that says "unable to open playback device. Device may not support the current projects audio format....."

I called Echo after Cake reps said it's not Sonar's fault. Echo says it's related to Win 7 in that Win 7 doesn't allow the sample rate to be locked.....or something like that....I called ADK and we tried changing the drivers to wdm but that didn't work. They are going to try again tomorrow.

Time will tell.

1st I wrote a Gregorian Chant in 64 bit w/ male ahh chorus as the instrument which is found in the Dim Pro drop down Vocals folder and when I hit playback I heard 1/2 step lower - it was s'posed to be in C minor and it played back in B minor. I saved it and re-opened it and then it's a 1/4 step flat.

I do not want to be put in a position of defending the pitch of the Dimension library samples, which many have found wanting. In addition to lacking the ability to discriminate between $5.00 a bottle wine and $150.00 a bottle wine, a lack of talent that has saved me many thousands of dollars over a lifetime of drinking, I have been blessed with a tin ear, which has saved me from thousands of hours of ensemble playing. In fact, had I not discovered early in life a passion and talent for performing cunnilingus, I might have spent my life alone. But I digress.

How do you explain the fact that each time you save/re-sample your file the pitch changes again. If it were just an off-pitch sample, then it should sound at the same (albeit incorrect) pitch when you listen to it in Sonar or when you play it from a wave saved from Sonar. A vocal chorus is probably the most difficult musical sound to extract an accurate pitch from with a digital algorithm/tuning meter, so why not try putting an A440 sine wave through the same exercise and see if you get the same result?

If you audio device says 44.1 (or 48.1) and if it says the same thing in the bottom of the SONAR window... and that agrees with the settings in your Audio setup... then it's probably just that you are discovering what many of us have been disappointed with.

I used Melodyne to repair a few Dimension tracks once and have never launched it since.

You certainly don't want to start a song with Dimension Pro... because then you are trapped. If you use it for a overdub you'll probably notice and issue right away. It's when you write from scratch in Dim pro that you get caught thinking it sounds good while it's really out of tune.

Some folks say that makes it seem more realistic.

First I thought I was going looney....then I thought it must be me doing something wrong as usual...now I'm pissed....How could this be allowed to go thru to us users and not be USUABLE?

So LET IT BE KNOWN that Dim Pro 64 doesn't work w/ 8.5.22 64 bit and now certain instruments/features of the 32 bit version don't work well or at all if you care about matching pitch.

Another project is HAULTED - previously today I was working on editing the audio of a .mov video file in 32 bit (cause it ALSO doesn't work in 64) and it gives me the error : "can't open my audio playback device"

Cakewalk is going to get a call....for sure.

I can't check it with my tuner because it has some phasing or chorus. However, checking it against my hardware synth, its close to 1/2 step off. Try transposing the track down a 1/2 step.

That is pretty bad.

Mike-Mccue and Slarta.............Even though i'm sure my Sonar options audio folder settings are at 44.1 ------what's the step by step procedure in order to check this??

My Echo layla 3G soundcard settings are where my Core Audio sample rate is at 48kHz and my sample rate is set at 44.1

It definitely is. The female vocal patch is unusable.

Exactly, if it was 1/2 step off one could work around it but it's a little under 1/2 step.
Some of the bass guitars are off too but these are know issues to CW.

If everything in the file is off by a semitone, it is a classic symptom of 48 kHz recording with 44.1 kHz playback or vice versa. I doubt the patch/sample is off by that much.
