It's the MOTU Micro Lite for our studio. We actually have 2 MIDIMAN 2X2's, but we run them on Win XP machines. Check out the MOTU.

I have the Emu XMidi 2x2 as well, but be careful with that unit, because their drivers don't support 64-bit, if that's important to you. In addition, depending on your Sonar version, there was a pre-Sonar-7 issue where if you used the Emu driver Sonar would not save the MIDI port information from session to session. There are some older threads here that talk about the problems and potential solutions.

I was just complaining about M-Audio in another thread, because they haven't updated their drivers for their legacy Midisport boxes for Win 7/64-bit. However, they do have a Midisport 4x4 anniversary version that does have newer drivers, and might do the job for you, depending on how many physical MIDI ports you need. If you are 32-bit, you could probably pick up a legacy Midisport really cheap since people seem to be dumping them for lack of 64-bit support.

Motu has a couple of MIDI devices that seem to get mixed reviews, but if you need a box with 8 MIDI ins/outs then that may be the only way to go at the moment. I believe Roland has some 4 in/out MIDI units as well, so you might check into those.

Try EMU's xMIDI 2x2, works for me. Its USB based.

Assuming you don't need all 16 channels for each device, you could try using the Midi Thru function to daisy chain two devices. As long as they're transmitting on different channels there shouldn't be any problem, just be sure that your MIDI tracks are set to receive on a specific channel and not Omni.

Hi all.

I've been using an M-audio delta 1010 for several years and am still happy with it. However, it only offers one MIDI in/out. I've never "needed" more than that (Have used an old Roland XP-30 as a synth/controller), but now I'd like to start taking advantage of the MIDI capabilities in some of my other gear (Drum machine, POD, etc).

I did come across an old midiman 2x2 some time ago, but the darned thing has just never worked. I checked M-audio's drivers and the most recent they had for it was for Vista (I run Win7). I tried them, but no luck. The interface doesn't get recognized, and also seemed to freeze my system randomly. So, the end of THAT experiment.

Any thoughts/suggestions/advice?
