If the option is set to replace old with new, then I get the behavior you describe. This works for me whether or not the Track Layers button is enabled or disabled. Anyway, I hope you get it figured out.

Regards,
Don
Re:Moving Clips w/ Layers (perfectprint)

not sure i fully understand whats going on, but do you have 'track layers' turned on (icon with 3 vertical lines on each track. 3 horizontal if activated)?
Re:Moving Clips w/ Layers (kjs00333)

Dwcaldwell, I am not copying clips, I am trying to nudge them while in layered form without it cutting away the area thats being overlapped. After it cuts away, then I have to go and manually pull the clip back to its original size.

Re:Moving Clips w/ Layers (dwcaldwell)

If I understand your question correctly, I think all you have to do is right-click in the Clips pane, hover your mouse cursor over the ">>>" menu item at the bottom of the popup menu, choose "Drag and Drop Options..." and select "Blend Old and New" instead of "Replace Old with New". Works for me anyway. Everytime I move a layered clip, it seems to cut off the clip its overlaping, and I have to go and manually extend the clip thats been cut off. This is quite annoying..

Is there an option somewhere that I can turn this feature off? It's a pain to have to keep going back and manually extending the clips that I am trying to overlap.

Hopefully I am explaining myself correctly.

Thanks!
