Or if you're using an external mic preamp, (which you should be in my opinion) use the 48V phantom power from there. When you use the preamps in the VS 700 you need to be aware that the 20db pad is on by default. If you haven't opened that page you might not know and that pad makes a big difference in what you expect to hear when you plug in a mic that you have used on another system.

Go to your Tools tab in Sonor, click on the VS700 mic pre option. when you see the mic preamp page look for the little 48V tab and highlight to turn orange. You should be good to go after that. That's one way to do it.

Do you have phantom power turned on? The AKG is a condenser mic and needs phantom power.

Hey all Not sure if this is a vs question or just a normal sonar question but hope you can shed some light and help.

Bit of a strange one... Today I was going to try and do some vocals on the new rig so I set up my sure beta 58 and it works good but not the sound I was looking for so though I would try my Akg perception 220

The perception 220 has no sound comeing through :S

Ive basicaly left everything like it was working with the 58 and un pluged the mic and put it in the perception but no signal at all.

I must be missing something i need to do to get this mic to work it was working before when i used protools and a 003 desk

Unfortunate now i dont have anything else I can try the mic on to make sure its not faulty. It hasnt been droped or damaged and was packed away in its box for 2 months while i was waiting on the sonar stuff arriveing

Any ideas what I am doing wrong or what I need to do to get this mic to work with the vs700/ sonar set up ?

I am useing producer 8.5 with the updates if thats of any use.
