Right there appears to be the issue! Explain that to Dell, they should be able to resolve it.

Possible underlying issue... I'm thinking drivers are either not quite installed correctly, not the best, or need updating. You should be able to run ethernet and audio drivers without conflicts.

Re:Might be Sonar?? CJ - Not sure how to check temp. Just have a Yamaha keyboard DGX 500 for midi, it happens with or without it hooked up. 10ten - not sure how to run a coretemp test. Bitflipper - Interesting on the device driver, I have six device drivers that show fail on the system performance monitor they show as system interrupt controllers and ethernet controller on device manager.

Save all your data if you value any, before doing things.

Are all drivers for your current version of Windows, 64 bits etc.?

A suggestion would be to start with updating the drivers that you find as FAIL...That is not normal, from the Dell website.

If not, try any hardware upgrades that Dell might have for your computer model. Mainly that's the bios, but there could be other things.

You can also try to put the PC back to factory condition if other things fail.

If the problem is since you got the PC, then it's the PC, the way it was configured and shipped, seems to me.

Seems to me that you did not mention the FAIL part to Dell?

Hope all resolves.

Re:Might be Sonar?? (daveny5)

How many disk drives and how many watts is the power supply? its not a Sonar problem. Sounds like hardware or a driver problem. Disconnect the Line 6 device and see if it still happens. Download memtest, burn it to a CD and let it run overnight. That will eliminate the memory if it runs clean.
Re:Might be Sonar?? (bitflipper)

He said the problem goes away after the first reboot. That would seem to scratch the usual suspects off the list, such as the power supply, blocked fans and dried-up thermal compound. For that reason, my guess would be software. But not an application, rather something running at the kernel level, most likely a device driver. Kind of hard to troubleshoot if the problem goes away on its own.
Re:Might be Sonar?? (lvsranch)

I have a fairly new core i7 Dell dedicated to Sonar 8.5 p and have had a strange problem since setup. Everything else works fine, but after booting up and getting started on a project the whole computer freezes somewhere between a half hour and two hours after start up. After I reboot everything runs fine and it never does it again. I have been living with this by restarting the computer after initial boot up and by just leaving it on for long periods of time. I have been online with Dell support and they cannot figure it out and tell me it must be software related. It does not matter what I am doing with the program: 45 tracks and plug ins or just starting with a few midi tracks. I have two separate sound cards and have used them both two see if it may be related to my interface, same result. I have reformatted and loaded windows Vista 64 and 32 and even rolled back to XP. It is curiously consistent no matter what I try. I could actually live with this by starting my computer twice every time I boot, but my questions are; Has anybody had a similiar experience? Could it be Sonar related? Suggestions?
Dell Core I7 920 @2.67 6G ram / Windows Vista 64 / Motu 828 mk3 / Line 6 ux2
