I'm finally breaking down and ripping the HDD out of my old DAW and putting it in my new one so I have two drives and I'm going to do a fresh install of Windows 7 in preparation. I can't wait till next week!

If you check out the 'Songs' section of the forums there's already a posting of what the Pro Chanel can do for your mixes. Sounds fantastic to me!

I just called Sweetwater.com and placed an order for the boxed X1 Producer Upgrade.

They are expecting a shipment by Monday, and said I should have it by the end of next week. This gives me some time to back up everything and get a second HDD installed like I've always wanted.

$99.00 for the upgrade.
$0.00 for shipping.
$0.00 for the boxed version.

I'm very happy with that!

Was there shipping charges? If you don't mind me asking, what was the total cost?

At least for the Producer upgrade, there was a promotional code, highly featured on pretty much all the store pages, to get free shipping through December 30th. It would have been $9.95 (I think -- give or take a few pennies) otherwise. Total cost for my Producer upgrade was $128.99, which represents $99 for the upgrade and $29.99 for the box.

I haven't seen any shipment notice come for my boxed version yet, but I seem to remember in the past that the e-mail on that often came on the same day the box actually showed up on my front doorstep. In any case, I have X1 running from the download version now. It took me something like 15-16 hours to download the two critical files (I'll deal with Dimension, Beatscape, and the extra content when the DVDs come) with my DSL connection, owing to the main file's being corrupted (short about 300 MB of 2.9 GB) on the first download attempt. Each of those files took on the order of 5 to 5.5 hours apiece.

Ya it's around $29.99 for the boxed version and an additional $9.99 for s & h, for a total around $40 bucks....add that to the Essential's upgrade price and it cost me around $100 total for the upgrade with box, dvd, manual...still a good price for what you're getting.

I was just reading on Sweetwaters site that the X1 upgrade for Essentials is 'Special Order' and there would be a special shipping charge. So, in the end, once the Producer upgrade is available from them, it may end up being the same as if you got the box directly from Cakewalk. We'll have to wait and see.

My ship finally came in. Waiting some time later in the wee hours in the morning, the boxed version finally appeared on the bottom left panel and I selected it and got it going. I'm assuming that the strange behavior was caused by the large numbers of people using the store. As RickPaul said, there was a double entry where I had to delete one. The free shipping on the box was nice, so that was a little incentive. I gather that no one seems to know when Cakewalk might ship the boxed version. I'm just hoping that the downloaded version works and was not corrupted as sometimes happens. I did manage to download all of the files. Let's hope that they all work!

This is correct. The confusing thing was that you have to add two items to your shopping cart. One is the box-only version, and the other is whatever upgrade (or new software download) you want. This is unlike with the 8.5 upgrade, where you picked the upgrade you wanted then had an option of adding the box for extra money, more or less like a shipping option.

From other threads, my understanding is that once you've ordered the download version (and possibly registered it?), you can order the box-only version separately.

Make sure the box-only version (one with "no serial number" after it) matches the download version you ordered.

The E-Store is indeed moving slow, but eventually you will prevail. You are right, though, they should order the box option from the get-go.

I suppose that I'll have to wait a few days until all the fervor is over. Still, wondering why the store didn't offer it. I have a fast cable connection and it was still slow as a turtle! There were also a lot of other quirks with the store, too numerous to mention.

I read the FAQ about the facts about ordering X1. I want to order the X1 Producer Edition and it was stated that I would have a chance to add the boxed version for $29. I went through the entire shopping cart experience and during the REVIEW segement, there was not a chance to do this. Is there something that I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

P.S. The e-store is moving REAL slow....
