May I please slightly hijack this to ask another question (instead of wasting a new thread)

I'm assuming if I open an 8.5 project in x1 and SAVE it, it will only open in x1? If so, will the 'save as' be able to be used so that you can have both?

I personally would not recommend saving an old project back to itself in X1. Save it as a new X1 project in a different place so you have a backup/original of your older project -- JUST IN CASE ;)

Wise words indeed! Having a few problems with old 8.5.3 projects myself. Don't overwrite your originals! Or at least make sure you have a backup.

Agreed! But occurred to me that I might accidentally just "save" something not thinking to save it as a different x1 file. Glad to know that I won't screw myself if I forget (which will probably happen :lol: )

Projects saved in X1 will open in older versions of SONAR. However, if you save a project with an X1 specific feature like the ProChannel, then that part of the project will of course not open in 8.5 and before.

You'll have to reorganize the project using the new features provided. The Synth Rack is in the Browser now.

Thanks, I was looking for that. Oh, man, that Browser looks good. This might be the best new feature in X1. Now what is that "one button" people keep talking about. I can't seem to figure that one out.

It's in the new preference window. I believe the new shortcut is "P".

You'll see it at the bottom of the dialog, under "Customizations" when in Advanced mode.

Opening Old Projects in X1 (Phoenix)

If I open a project that I started in Sonar 8.5 in Sonar X1, it opens in the X1 version of the 8.5 layout; is there an easy way of converting it to the X1 layout?
Failing that, someone please tell me how to get the synth rack to show when it appears hidden. I couldn't find it in the help file.
I hope this isn't a stupid question; and apologize if it is.
