Excellent advice DaveNY5 - I was having similar issues with my new Korg micorKorgXL, Sonar X1, and a Windows 7 - Intel I7 (64-bit) combo. Sonar would not recognize my microKORG as a MIDI input until I switched the driver from Korg's driver to the stock Windows USB sound driver that also works with the micorKORG. Someone needs to explain this to KORG I think.

FIXED!!!!

Go into Device Manager for the Korg nanoKontrol, right click for Properties, the select the Drivers tab. Select Update Drivers. Don't let it search for a driver, tell it to Browse Computer for Driver Software. Then select Let Me Pick.... and it will list the Korg nanoKontrol driver and a driver called USB Audio Device. Select the USB Audio Device (counterintuitive if you ask me) and it will install the Windows drivers instead of the Korg drivers. (Korg drivers are notoriously sucky so this is no surprise.) After I did that, I ran Rapture and it listed the nanoKontrol as an input.

The reason I needed to do this is that Sonar doesn't allow you to have both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Rapture installed at the same time. There is a note that says you can only have one or the other. So I decided I would go totally 64-bit and not use the 32-bit Sonar X1 anymore, but then I couldn't get the nanoKontrol to show up in the MIDI devices list. Now that is resolved. TGIFF!

Dave,

I'd be you have a 32bit 'remnant" somewhere from the old drivers.

You might want to uninstall the drivers and do a registry search to clean it out from any older nanokontrol stuff.

I've seen this happen before.

I agree. I've uninstalled and reinstalled and looked through the registry (but haven't deleted it in the registry), but I think I'm going to try that next. Thanks!

Yes, I learned that the nanoKontrol has 32 and 64-bit drivers. I reinstalled them, but its still not showing up in X1. Might try moving it to a different USB port.

NanoKontrol working fine in Win7 64bit and PE8.5.3 64bit here as well.

NanoKontrol and Nanopad working fine in windows 7 64bit at my DJ-ing laptop here (haven't installed Sonar on it though)..... You might want to check elsewhere for your problem and not the OS being 32 or 64 bit

I'll answer my own question... the nanoKontrol apparently only works at 32-bit. Guess I'll have to install 32-bit Sonar X1 after all.

FWIW, I'm using a nanoKontrol with my laptop rig running Windows 7 64-bit. Worked fine with 8.53 x64, and now with X1 x64, after migrating my preferences.
