If you want to hear your keyboard's sounds, turn Local Control ON. There is another way but this is simpler.

In the Midi track you are recording on, turn the Input Echo OFF. You don't want the midi data you are sending going through the computer and back into your keyboard.

You can hear your keyboard, as has already been mentioned, by using the Input Monitoring feature of your audio interface. This mixes the sound coming in the Inputs into the sound going out the Outputs.

Another way to monitor your keyboard is to enable an audio track with the Firestudio as its Input. Turn Input Echo ON. You will hear your keyboard sound after it passes through your computer and back into your audio interface. Again, to do this you must have Local Control ON.

Just wondering why you keep starting a new thread? Makes it hard to help when the questions and answers are scattered across 3 threads with same title.
I have read all 3 of your threads and I'm totally confused as to what the problem is now?
If what you are trying to do is listen to the sound of the Korg, then it will be from your headphone output of the interface.
Make sure you have the headphone set to listen to a balance of both the input signal and the computer ( Sonar) output. If it does not have a mix knob for this, then go into then interfaces control panel and look there.
Other than that, the topic of how to set up within Sonar has been explained clearly by others here for you already. Please stay put here until you have resolved your issue and let us know how you make out.

Did you try plugging in headphones into your keyboard to make sure it is making noise.

You should have your headphones plugged into the Presonus.

I'm trying to monitor my korg into sonar, outputs from korg go to line inputs of presonus firestudio, I have input 1 midi and 1 audio with echo on, now you are supposed to turn local off on korg so as to receive sonar midi, I assume you need local on going in and off for playback ? because with local off there is no signal going to the presonus. with local on I get an input on presonus and on presonus mixer no sound, can't think of what else to do ? any ideas please. thanks.

Turning the Local Control off is so you don't trigger your keyboards sounds while sending Midi data to the recording software. It has no effect on whether or not the keyboard Receives Midi data.

With Local Control ON, your keyboard Sends Midi, Receives Midi AND plays its own sounds when you strike the keys.

With Local Control OFF, your keyboard only sends and receives Midi, but striking the keys won't play the keyboard's sounds.

If you are trying to hear your keyboard's sounds with Local Control OFF, you can't do it by playing it. If the software is SENDING midi data to your keyboard, you should hear THAT as audio as well as being able to record that audio.

Exactly what are you trying to do?

1. Play a soft synth while recording Midi?

2. Record audio from your keyboard while it receives midi data from the software?

3. Record Midi while listening to your keyboard's sounds?

4. All of the above?

Did you mash the input echo button on the audio track that is being fed by the Presonus Firestudio?
