What you actually bought was a serial and registration number to run the program.
Cakewalk will soon give away (for free) the downloaded files and call it a "Trial Version". To make it work fully you will need to buy just a Serial & Registration Number from them.

Thanks... that'll save my friend some time...

Keni

Re:A Friend bought 8.5 with theunderstanding that he could d/l X1 (PH68)

Keni

Do you know if it's ok to share the d/l I have and use his own serial and registration numbers?

Keni

Yes you can take all your downloaded files and install it wherever you like... even on someone elses PC.
Everyone downloaded the same files from Cakewalk.

Once installed, X1 will open and require you to input a Serial Number & Registration Number.
As long as they are vaild numbers you can install and use X1 wherever you like.

So...
To run Sonar there is no online checking, or dongle, required!
All you need are the downloaded files (or the files on a disc/DVD) with a set of Serial & Registration Numbers.

Think of it this way.
You didn't actually buy the downloads.
