Hi Sam,

Nope, it hasn't been two months... not even one yet, but almost. The print edition was released on March 8th, and the Kindle edition should be here about one month after that. So April 8th is the tentative date.

I really don't know what it takes to create the Kindle version. I only write it... then the publisher does the rest.

What is the hold up? i am actually interested in the process of 'kindle-izing' a book. Can't they just use the final mastered digital version?

One more note about the Kindle books... someone had asked that if they purchase the Kindle version, can they also read it on their PC or other devices (like iPad, etc.). I found this info over on the Amazon site, so yes, it looks like that's possible...

Yeah, SONAR Power is still floating around out there, but then again, so is my first book: Cakewalk Power. I can't believe there are still people buying that book and still using Pro Audio 9. Amazing.

You are assuming people have a photographic memory. I've read two of them cover to cover but when you refer to it later it's to solve a problem. The problems are only solved if you can remember everything else. The book could be improved with more screen shots at the appropriate moment. But then don't take my word for it: I'm only a consumer with a less that perfect memory.

To solve that problem, I put in references to other sections and chapters. So, for example, in a step-by-step section that also requires info about a previously discussed feature, I'll let the reader know they need to look back to a previous section of the book if they don't remember how to use that feature. That's the only way it can be done. Otherwise the book would end up with thousands of pages (with a lot of repeated content) and then no one would buy it because it would cost way too much. " />

But I'm always open to constructive comments and I appreciate your input on this... I've done a lot of work on the current edition and hopefully, it will provide the info that everyone needs to learn how to use X1.

so although Scott maybe bigging up amazon, in the UK other companies (like book fella's) ARE doing the business for him.

Yep, obviously, I've had access to X1 for a while. And while I know there have been bugs, the software is complete. I know how the buggy features were supposed to work (and some of them actually did work in earlier builds). In addition, Cakewalk themselves did the technical edit, so you can be sure that the information is technically accurate.

I assume your printed version always had figures (the screen shots) to refer to. So I'm hoping the Kindle is able to show these figures too.

As far as I know, the Kindle version is exactly the same as the print version. I know that I don't write separate versions, but the publisher puts each edition together. I'll ask them, just to be certain, but I'm pretty positive the Kindle version does include figures.

I've bought three different versions of the book. It needs a complete re-write not just as minor update. The book can be excruciatingly annoying when it assumes the reader knows where a certain menu item is three levels down.

Sorry to hear you're not enjoying the past editions. I never assume the reader knows something about the topic I'm describing. However, the book is meant to be read cover to cover. If you just skip around without reading previous chapters, then of course, you're going to miss some info. I can't repeat the same info in every section of the book. You need to read through the entire book at least once and then you can use it as a reference.

That's correct. There's no reason to request it because it will definitely be available. Amazon just hasn't gotten the page up yet. However, I just spoke to the publisher and they are going to see if they can get a pre-order page for the Kindle edition up on Amazon sometime soon. I'll let you know...

Order it from Amazon.com. I order books regularly from .com rather than .co.uk because they always arrive (despite a journey 100 times further) better packaged and always in pristine condition. Books I've ordered from Amazon.co.uk often arrive scuffed, creased or buggered up in some way, and I end up with the hassle of returning them. I saw a clip on UK TV once of how the orders are assembled and stuff whizzes and slides over sheet steel chutes and tables where operatives box them up. I assume Amazon in the US have slightly more sophisticated and gentle logistics equipment that greatly cuts down on damage. I order Scott's book every year always from .com.

Hey Syntheticpop,

These types of books never have color figures. They're always black and white. SONAR X1 Power will have black and white (or grayscale) figures.

I know Amazon has a PC Kindle reader, so I would think you could read it both on your computer and on the Kindle, but you'll need to contact them to be sure. The SONAR X1 Power book will work like any of the other Kindle books out there.

Both the print and Kindle versions will contain the same content. There are no download chapters this time around. I removed the older/outdated material and everything fit in print this time. I think that will make some people happy. " />

By the way, I just heard from the publisher today that the Kindle version should be out at the same time as the print version. As soon as Amazon gets the Kindle edition page up there, I'll let everyone know.

Scott, is the printed and Kindle version both in full color or will one or the other or both just be in black and white?

With the Kindle version; will I be able to read it on my current computer, then later be able to transfer and read that file on another computer, kindle or iPad?

Will X1's Kindle version have more content and pages similar to your Sonar 8 Power! Kindle version?
