On their website it says you get a freebie if you buy 3 of their products. Are you saying you get a freebie even if you buy just one?

The website says.

Any products marked Exclusive Content ( XC ) are available FREE with your first purchase - if you buy one standard product, you can choose 1 XC product, if you buy 2 products, you get two XC products, and so on.*
Each time you return and make a purchase, you can choose another XC product , from a selection of 3 in total.

So purchase on item get one on the freebees, purchase another, get another freebee, There are 3 freebees in total. That is certainly the way it worked when I bought the Omnichord.
Re:SonicCouture No Brainer - Abstrakt Bass (Anubis)

Glyn Barnes

edrummist

I bought it half to pick up a couple more SonicCouture freebies!

Good point - I had forgotten there were freebees when you make a purchase, I got a rather nice bowed gamelan when I bought their $5 Japanese earthquake charity Omnichord. I actually haven't installed it and probably won't have time to do so for quite a while.

I thought the demos were okay -- not my style, but who knows; sometimes trying sounds not intended for the context I use them in can be pretty interesting. I really love SonicCouture's libraries and didn't see a lot of risk in getting Abstrakt Bass along with the free tube drum library (forgot the name they call them; basically, the drums the Blue Man Group uses) and an additional synth bass library. I haven't gotten anything from this dev I haven't found high quality yet, so I was willing to bet 15 bucks this would have at least a few usable bases.
Re:SonicCouture No Brainer - Abstrakt Bass (BigBen)

edrummist

I bought it half to pick up a couple more SonicCouture freebies!

Could you please comment/review on the included sounds for the rest of us that are on the fence?

Re:SonicCouture No Brainer - Abstrakt Bass (edrummist)

I bought it half to pick up a couple more SonicCouture freebies!

Re:SonicCouture No Brainer - Abstrakt Bass (bitflipper)

it looks like there are a lot of synth basses and that's an area that I think I could cover better with my Minimonsta, Korg MonoPoly, Pentagon and Z3ta than a sample set

I heard nothing in the demos that I don't already have covered with other synths. If a generic swept sawtooth is what you're after, you're better off using a synthesizer so you can tweak it into a slightly less-generic form.
Re:SonicCouture No Brainer - Abstrakt Bass (Glyn Barnes)

Mesh

The demo's sound really good and this is exactly what I was looking for (only $15 too!!).
Thanks Glyn!!

I am in two minds, it looks like there are a lot of synth basses and that's an area that I think I could cover better with my Minimonsta, Korg MonoPoly, Pentagon and Z3ta than a sample set. A lot of them seem to be very dance orientated too and probably won't fit my style of music.

Has anyone got this? what are the Abstrackt sounds and the electric and Acoustic sounds like?
Re:SonicCouture No Brainer - Abstrakt Bass (yorolpal)

+1 Bit.

Re:SonicCouture No Brainer - Abstrakt Bass (bitflipper)

Warning: those audio demos will give your subwoofer a heart attack and there is no volume control on the player. There are some MP3 demos on the website.

They say

ABSTRAKT BASS $15 : ONE MONTH ONLY
Abstrakt Bass, one of our more ambitious products, is to be discontinued next month, on 20th September.

Why? it's a cool product, you say. Well, you're right, it's very nice. The problem is that we're updating some of our older products to keep things fresh, and this one is really, really hard to update. This is because each kontakt instrument was built individually, in the early days of scripting! So, to update it, we'd kind of have to start again from scratch. And we'd rather make new products than do that.

So, long story short, it's going. Maybe some of the sample data will turn up in something else one day, but for now, it's the end of the line.

If you want 140 different bass instruments, from big saws to some killer electric dub-basses, it's now only $15

http://www.soniccouture.com/en/products/g19-abstrakt-bass/
