AKAI MPD32 - Sonar X1 (biodiode)

Strange thing has started to happen when I boot up Sonar X1. If I have my AKAI MPD32 plugged in via usb, Sonar hangs on the splash screen however, as soon as I unplug the usb cable from the AKAI it continues to load.

I have tried another usb cable to elimiate that being the problem. Could this be a setting in Sonar that I have missed or has the AKAI developed a fault?
