(Moshkiae)

=old55
It might be right about his age and activity, Pedro. Right after the book tour, he's doing some concerts. He's scheduled to be at the Doheny Blues Festival on the weekend of May 19th. I hope he makes if only to prove that he's healthy. http://www.omegaevents.com/dohenyblues I am curious about the book. I imagine he's got some good stories to tell.

I'm hoping the book expands on Tom Dowd a lot.

Gregg has said a lot of great things about this man, and he is almost single handedly responsible for a lot of rock music making its mark ... and he has never gotten the credit for it.

If you ever have the chance, see the DVD about Tom Dowd ... you will probably never see/hear a better history of American music in the 40's, 50's and 60's ... and what brought out "Layla" was him ... catching the two guyss having fun at it. You dream of an engineer, or producer, or idiot, that can catch a moment of glory in music ... but you never thought, or understood, that it could be found, or seen, or shared. This is what "good" directors look for on a stage or film ... because the rest ... is all the same!

All in all, it gives "music" a completely different aspect ... you are there, or you are not there, and that was what his engeneering was all about. Too much of the engineering and "mastering" these days is just about imaginary ideas and effects and stuff that has very little to do with the music itself ... the most important part of the music is that very moment ... not anything else. Well, George Martin made us think otherwise, but it tends to confuse the folks within it and without it! (Now you know what that was about according to Geroge!)
Re:Greg Allman postpones book tour for heart tests!
