It is only the case with certain downloaded files, Not with tracks you have recorded yourself. Might be the MIDI 0 and MIDI 1 file difference. I posted 2 screen shots a while back showing clearly the same song and the event list in Sonar and then in Cubase and there was more stuff showing in Cubase. We all know Sonar is not perfect. Oh well.

Re:My classic SONAR 8.5 issue: VST presets resetting when I hit play (Ace.trouble)

Hmm, deleted both the MIDI and audio track and then created it again. Now it has stopped the silly behavior.
Question is for how long

Re:My classic SONAR 8.5 issue: VST presets resetting when I hit play (Ace.trouble)

Unfortunately, so far none of the possible solutions offered here worked.

Is this like a SONAR bug or something? I used Ableton Live in the past (until I switched to a 64-bit rig) and there weren't any problems... :-(

Re:My classic SONAR 8.5 issue: VST presets resetting when I hit play (Ace.trouble)

Thanks for the input, you two!

I will try what you have mentioned, "Cactus Music". I still have a copy of Cubase LE 5 lying around, which came with my ZOOM mobile recorder (completely forgot about that :-D ).

Also, if I specified the desired VST preset in the Events List, it probably wouldn't reset, right?
However, I have no idea how to do this.
On the Events List menu there's this button that says "Insert event", but what it does when I click it, it just adds another note to the MIDI arrangement.

Re:My classic SONAR 8.5 issue: VST presets resetting when I hit play (strikinglyhandsome1)

 http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=1798851

Re:My classic SONAR 8.5 issue: VST presets resetting when I hit play (Cactus Music)

Downloaded MIDI files contain lots of events which I find do not always show on Sonar's event list. So I now always open the tracks in Cubase first where those events are easy to see and delete. Other wise PG changes will not stick as example.

Re:My classic SONAR 8.5 issue: VST presets resetting when I hit play (Ace.trouble)

 On an additional note:
I've been wondering if it might have something to do with the key bindings in SONAR?

I'm using the space bar on my keyboard to play/stop my projects (I think SONAR is configured like that by default...).
But maybe that could trigger something in the VST plugin?

My classic SONAR 8.5 issue: VST presets resetting when I hit play (Ace.trouble)

 Hello!

Well, this happens to me sooner or later on ANY project in SONAR 8.5:
I would import a MIDI track and send it through an audio track containing a VST plugin (e.g. Steinberg "The Grand" piano).
I would then adjust the VST plugin to my likings and save it as a bank.
Then, IF I'm lucky it will retain the preset for a certain time.

The problem is:
If I now do further adjustments to the VST preset (e.g. volume, panning) it will reset to the last settings I used everytime I hit the play button.
This is not limited to specific plugins. It happens with ANY VST plugin that I use in conjunction with a MIDI track.

In the past I managed to solve this problem by opening the MIDI track's Events List. Then, there would be some weird events colored orange, which I'd delete.

But now the problem mentioned above remains even if there are no such entries in the Events List.

It's driving me completely nuts I haven't experienced that in other DAWs I've tried in the past.

Any help would be highly appreciated!

Kind regards
