I don't have to load the file into another program and convert it. I typically export to WAV files, not MP3s. MP3s are compressed and lower quality than WAV files.

RE: Converting to MP3 (bill durham)

ORIGINAL: Dale Roach

I am using HM2004XL. After the mix, I export my project (in 16 bit) to My Music files on my computer, which is accessable from any audio player on my computer. I then use Cakewalk Pyro 2003 to convert the wave file to mp3.
Is there an advantage to converting to mp3 while I am in HS?
Let me know what you think
Thanks,
Dale

Dale,

I can't speak to the quality of Pyro, but from what I have heard from other folks, the best mp3 encoder is from an outfit called Lame. A freebie encoder that uses this is CDex and is available at www.cdex.com...it sounds pretty good. One thing though...mp3's encoded at less than 128kbps usually have some pretty audible problems. 160kbps or higher sounds better. A 6 minute tune encoded at 160kbps is about an 8 meg file.

BD

RE: Converting to MP3 (Dale Roach)

I am using HM2004XL. That should not happen. If you don't have the CW encoder, you may want to look for cwenc on the web.

Converting to MP3 (Dale Roach)

I've noticed that after I convert my wave files to mp3 files, the mp3's sound broken up. Is this from the software I am using to convert. My mp3 comverter has the option to make a better mp3 by raising the bit level, but I am trying to get the same results as the mp3 files you might pull off the internet- small bit size, but big, smooth sound.
Thanks for your responses!
Dale
