Now that I am using driver version 2.82, it is really significantly noticable. There was also another file update for Sonar on the RME download that you had to replace with the origial Sonar file. I will double check that I replaced it properly.

I also learned that this click is a knows issue with Sonar only.

Maybe I will try to revert back to the old drivers.

RE: RME multiface/cardbus problem (Mo@peppisworld)

i think it's a problem with the new drivers.

i was using sonar 3 and 4 and the multiface with pci interface together with no such trouble - but i didn't update firmware/drivers during the last months...

RE: RME multiface/cardbus problem (havuncan)

It is the PCI... Actually, after I posted my message, I experimented with the buffer settings and emailed RME about what happened. I have been using buffer size 512 and had the glitch on start, both audio and VST instruments. Stopping would still cause a slight glitch but not nearly as distorted as the start. When you go below 256 then the glitch at the start goes away. I was so excited about it, but when you stop on top of an audio or a continuous note for a VST instrument, this time a buzz comes out. I was better off with the buffer size 512. I tried everything from different sample rates to 16 - 24 bit audio settings. I thought my adat connection to my 01V could be a problem and disconnected it. It is definitely a Sonar and Multiface mix problem.

I was wondering if it was this bad with the older drivers, I do not remember, I am using driver version 2.82 .

I will definitely let you know when I hear back from RME.

Hakan

RE: RME multiface/cardbus problem (monkaiboy)

Is that with cardbus or PCI havuncan? (Just trying to pin down the problem...)

I bought the laptop from Millennium (who have been great, by the way), and they are talking to RME about it, so I'll let you know if they get anywhere. I'll also let Millennium know there are a few more people having problems, it may help motivate RME.

kai

RE: RME multiface/cardbus problem (havuncan)

I am having the same issue with my Multiface and Sonar 3 PE. I emailed RME support thinking it was a config problem on my computer. I am surprized they are not aware of this problem since multiple users are having it. Having a glitch at stop is one thing, but it has been driving me crazy when it does it at start. I have been starting with an empty measure to bypass the start problem.

I was hoping upgrading to Sonar 4 would have helped. I do not have this issue in P5.

RE: RME multiface/cardbus problem (monkaiboy)

Hmm, wonder if it is a cardbus issue. I'd be interested to see how you get on Mo.

psi777 - are you using cardbus or PCI?

Cheers all,

kai

RE: RME multiface/cardbus problem (Mo@peppisworld)

ORIGINAL: monkaiboy
Out of interest, is anyone using a multiface with no problems?

with a pci card in my desktop workstation, yes... 3 years, no trouble

i'll see next week, if i experience the same problem with my new notebook...

RE: RME multiface/cardbus problem (monkaiboy)

Thanks for your reply. Ah, that's a bit worrying - Sonar is my main music app. Out of interest, is anyone using a multiface with no problems?

Cheers,
Kai

RE: RME multiface/cardbus problem (psi777)

yes, I get the same thing with my Multiface...and I'm afraid I don't have any answers for you...runs without a hitch in other apps, but Sonar seems to choke on it....never tried it with Sonar 3, but maybe RME needs to update their Sonar drivers for version 4?

RE: RME multiface/cardbus problem (monkaiboy)

Still no joy with this - any other RME users experienced anything similar?

(apologies for shameless bump)

cheers,
Kai

RE: RME multiface/cardbus problem (monkaiboy)

Interesting. I'm running Sonar 4PE on XP.

This is with 44.1kHz, 16 bit audio, and occurs with a single stereo track of audio and no plugins.

I don't think it is a latency issue - I can set the value very high and it does not prevent it. I have the clocking of the multiface set to internal, and I'm not connecting any other digital devices to it, so I don't think it's a clocking issue.

Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers,
Kai
