screen stuttering during playback
I was just working on a new track hardly anything on it except stylus rmx and a vocal track so far. during playback it is basically stuttering along- not the audio but everything else. the cursor moves in steps along with the now time and is not fluid at all. my specs are below. cpu was barely even kicking dpc latency was fine. any ideas ?

I have a theory about this, based on nothing more than speculation: SONAR will give priority to audio-related threads at the expense of UI-related threads in order to keep audio playback going even if the system is running low on CPU resources. On my own system, I've found that if I change the audio driver's clock source while SONAR is loaded, I'll find myself in a weird mode in which video refreshes are very jerky and there are lags when responding to keypresses and mouse clicks. The symptom only occurs during playback, and only goes away after rebooting. I now routinely close out of SONAR before changing the clock source in order to avoid this annoyance.

You asking me or the OP, Dave? If me then yes, I usually am.

Sorry. I meant the OP. I've been having the same problem and think it may have to do with an update I did for SD. I'm going to uninstall it soon (between projects) to see if it remedies the problem .

sykodelic thanks everyone. it was the pause/break deal. didn't know that feature existed. relieved i though maybe my video card was acting up. now to unbind that key since its next to delete. Keep in mind that, as CJaysMusic posted, it is a feature designed to take some of the load off the CPU during recording/playback. There might be times when that feature, as visually annoying as it is, might come in handy.

yeah luckily i just built a pretty hefty machine so I'm not sure i'll really ever need it and I hit delete constantly so being next to the delete key sucks.
