session drummer key map where can i find the key map so i can assign my midi drums
Yep, addictive drums works fine, but when i went to use session drummer 3, the toms are snares, and snares are bells, and the kick is a cymbol........all i need is the chart from session drummer so i can assign my midi drums...seems a pain inthe ass though, that i need to remap my elec drums every time i change between addictive drums and session drummer, why is it different? annoying!!!

Sounds like you are using midi that was created using another soft synth. You could re map every thing but you might be better off just opening Piano Roll View and clicking on the header notes (to select every kick drum, every snare, exc) and drag the notes to their corresponding midi notes. OR: Just use the map that comes with session drummer. Use the Insert > Soft synths > Session drummer 3.When session drummer 3 open, load a kit. Create new midi in PRV or using a controller OR copy/paste the midi one by one from the previous midi track. paul jenkins why is it different? annoying!!! Because they are made from different vendors Paul. nothing we can do about that man. Its all part of the game we play called: DAW-nopoly.

Yeah cool man, but i think i forgot to say in my post its for my yamaha electric drumkit, xrl audio have a chart that shows what the corrosponding midi number for each addictive drum kit piece, open closed hi hat for example......and i just adjust it on the electric drums.........And ive had session drummer working in the past, i just cant remember what i did........but i need that similar chart for session drummer.......otherwise i guess i can go through the 107 different options and find what i want........because yeah they design these drum software packages to work with the most expensive top of the line electric kits, that have 7 different sounds per pad, my kit only has 2 zone on the snare, 3 zone onthe hi hat and 1 zone for the rest........so i have to choose what part of the drum im actually sounding, anyway, thats why there is 107 options.....So yeah, a keymap for session drummer would really help.

With a few exceptions on the percussion pads, Session Drummer mapping follows the basic General MIDI standard (Note number 35 is B3 in SONAR): https://www.midi.org/specifications/item/gm-level-1-sound-set A full map for Session Drummer is given in the PDF you should have in the Session Drummer installation path. You can also right-click pads in the Mixer page to see assignments. Or open the Drum Map Manager via the Output assignment dropdown of a MIDI track and load the Session Drummer map.

Ok so, i was looking at the link you gave me for general midi, the session drummer installation path, i looked at command centre, and session drummer isnt really a seperate download? And i googled session drummer 3 manual......nothing......only references to cakewalk forums.......whereabouts is the output assignment window of a midi drop down menu?

c\program files\cakewalk\vst plugins/session drummer 3/documentation (standard installation) for me it is a .chm file you can find the assignments on the 'using the drum kit' page, down the bottom you can find the output assignment thing by sellecting the 'output' dropdown on the track, should say session drummer 3 i guess, then from that drop down you should be able to choose 'new drum map' or 'drum map manager' among other things. hope that is what you want

Ah right......so i wasnt seeing that cause i was only clicking on simple instrument track.......so i just clicked on midi source, and yes it brings up this new drummap etc menu......So but in your example, you have a simple instrument track and a midi source track.......So what do you click on?....and whats the difference between a midi source and a simple instrument track..........and whats the difference between clicking on midi track or softsynth/session drummer in the other menu?

Right-click the Instrument track and choose 'Split Instrument Track' to get separate MIDI and synth audio tracks. Then assign the drum map to the output of the separate MIDI track. Depending on what other MIDI output ports (both physical and virtual) are available in the project you may need to change the default output port assignment of all notes in the drum map to the Session Drummer port (hold Ctrl+Shift while changing the output asignment of the last note after changing the first). Session Drummer will automatically show kit piece names in the Drum Pane of the PRV without a map applied, but looking at the Drum Map will let you see exactly how note numbers/pitches are mapped to the different kit pieces/articulations.

To assign a drum map in an instrument track use the output drop down in the In/Out section at the bottom left of the track inspector MIDI tab.
