session tempo issues

I imported a few audio files not recorded in Sonar and set the session tempo to what I knew the tracks were. The I recorded new tracks to go with them. Sounded fine but when I export it seems like it doesnt match tempo anymore.

Another question that may or not be related is that when I change the session tempo it stretches the clips. But follow session tempo is not checked in the properties.

I know its a bit vague but does this make sense or sound familiar at all ?

you can't change the tempo if you've recorded against a particular beat regardless of what you have the tempo set to in sonar.  changing the tempo in sonar will simply stretch the waveform.

however, I don't recall a "follow session tempo" in the properties - which properties are you talking about?  I'll have to check into that this evening if I get a chance because I'm not familiar with it.

Thanks for the response. I dont want to change the tempo. I imported previously recorded tracks and use the bpm that i know it was recorded at. then i recorded some new tracks. when I export it for another person to record to it (using pro tools) he tells me that the bpm doesnt match.

i was wondering if i had selected something that was screwing things up

oh, I think I misunderstood your original post.

did he send you the original tracks that you imported into sonar?  was there a click track with that or did you use the metronome or what?

ok.  so "session tempo" is not a setting in sonar.  I didn't recognize it but thought that's what you meant above.

but you still didn't answer my questions.
