setting up LED TV for 2nd display

Sorry for cross posting but the hardware forum is a ghost town.

OK, just bought a DVI to HDMI cable. Plugged it in to the DVI output on the back of my card and in to the HDMI on my TV.
The TV displayed my desktop background picture but nothing else.
Ni icon, no cursor, no task bar no nothing. Just the desktop picture.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Do I need to configure it from within my graphics card.

One thing I have just discovered is that when I use the windows magnifier the screen on my TV gets split and on the left side I can see half of my "active screen and the cursor is there and whatever programs I have open.
I really don't want to have to buy another lead and I'm sure it's just a config issue.
I've never done this before. I'm not wanting to use the two monitors together.
Cheers

Steve

Ok..chances are your resolution on your TV or your PC is set wrong...

Got to you TV settings and select FIT TO SCREEN or whatever it may be on your TV settings
and that should resolve your problem...

Your taskbar is there...it's just OFF the screen

    Thanks Larry
I got it to display on both monitors by setting "duplicate displays" under my screen reolution settings page. However I can't have them set independently of each other. So when I change the resolution for one it changes for both.

I'm wondering if my Geforce 210 isn't dual head and perhaps I would need a dual headed card in order to have independent settings for each display.
    Does that make sense?

Your graphics card should have an option to "extend" displays...that means that BOTH displays behave as one...

Where you can drag things from one display to another...

That may have been why you only saw your wallpaper on the HD TV...

    Because the Taskbar will reside on Monitor 1 only...;

    Brilliant.
Thanks larry. I hadn't realised I could just drag something from one screen to the other.
