sfz+ doesn't play sfz files ?

I downloaded some free sfz files (sfz files with associated wave files) and tried them in Sonar's sfz file player (I'm a long time Cakewalk/Sonar customer). They played just fine. I noticed Cakewalk is giving away a free sfz+ player, so I downloaded and installed it. Funny, but the sfz+ player doesn't play sfz files.
 
Humm, I'm not upset, why should I be, it was free. But the name of the program might lead you to believe it was an improvement over the standard sfz player.
 
I do have this right, don't I (the sfz+ player doesn't play sfz files, but the sfz player does)? Any further info, from some knowledgeable person? Thanks!

    they might be in the other SFZ format.. errm other companies used it and modified cakes one.. just a thought..

    I haven't used it of yet.. but I knew some sample packs from elswhere used a different standard of sfz and it messed up when I imported into DP

    Yep, SFZ+ doesn't play SFZ files, it just loads soundfonts.  Weird, I know. But lots of cake synths do load sfz files. You can load sfz files into the "element" of many cakewalk synths, like Dimension Pro and LE, Rapture and LE, Drop Zone, and Session Drummer 2 and 3.

    Yep - Its confusing. SFZ+ does not play sfz files, only sound fonts. Why, As I understand it, its because it's an old program that was called SFZ before the SFZ format was developed.
    I am not sure if SFZ plays SFZ files as well as Soundfonts, I never tried it. Dimension plays SFZ.

    Intel i7 3770K @4.4GHz, 32GB RAM, 240GB SSD System disk, 2 x 2TB and 1 x 1TB (with SSD Cache) HDD. Windows 10,  Sonar Platinum. Roland Quad Capture.

    Thanks tarsier and Glyn.  I just thought it was weird that SFZ would play them, but SFZ+ would not. I never thought Dimension, or Rapture, or the others mentioned would. Learn something new everyday.
